Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

A layoff has been coming for 9 months old timer and predicted for every friday during that 9 month (by old timers)...your not batting 1.000, hell, you haven't even scared a pitch.

I this industry, there are always layoffs, so you can keep saying it and EVENTUALLY it will be true, so you have to go by accuracy of time, and not event. If we do that, You aren't very good.

Everyone wants to instill fear in others on this site it seems. Emails went out today saying no lay offs for at least a few months. So count your blessings and enjoy your holiday seasons with your families. You’re lucky to have the jobs you do. Stop whining.

Boeing is now offering employment opportunities in its Fukushima
Clean-up division. This job offers free housing on site with meals.

I don't believe anyone here is wishing for a layoff, and I believe the intent of the prior post was to make people aware of the verbiage. In the past, a lot of people have interpreted that phrase to mean no layoffs, only to feel misled later on. Yes, the company has gone out of the way to retain everyone throughout the recertification process, and for that we should be grateful. That being said, we should all be devising a "plan B" should the outcome include some sort of RIF. Regardless the outcome (hopefully for the best!) I can't complain about the opportunities Boeing has provided for me and my family. Should I lose my job in the future, I have gained the skills to go many other places.

And yet, here we are 9 months later, buring through cash, finally shutting down the line...9 months of hearing "No layoffs at this time" and guess what...still no layoffs

Yet, never any credit for that. You would be happier collecting unemployment at a rate half of what you make.

You people amaze me.

"No layoffs at this time", is used in every single company wide communication. Being through multiple commercial aerospace cycles, I've seen too many people get caught up in the semantics. They didn't say no layoffs, they simply stated no layoffs planned at the time the email was released. As many senior folks will recall, this same verbiage was used in the early 90's in a Monday morning email only to have layoff notices issued the following Friday.

Directly nobody is getting laid off but after you newbies train somebody from Renton with more seniority than you for 30 days, guess what? You will be indirectly laid off.

All you newbs can’t read through the lines it seems. No layoffs! But “Furloughed”, simply means laid off but not on paper for this company. Due to the fact that they will relocate assignments assuming by seniority. So when you get called in & asked if you want to relocate to Everett, Moses Lake, & or even SC... and you say no thanks... they’ll simply say bye bye... we’ll call you in the future if needed...

they are gonna move all to Everett.. then layoff... look at the wording.. no layoffs in Renton.. Hummm, Its a Douglas deja vue.

So I come to work but don't work? Makes me feel like a state employee.
