The culture cancer - so weary of being slimed at work

This post from @Zg1y0lX-1ahn summarizes the Ford worker dilemma. I am not the same demographic, but feel the same. There is no good path for technical workers.

There were a few in my area. Not the best, but not the worst, however I would not wish that on anyone. They had some things in common: white, male, over 45, etc. With the latest round of cuts, diversity initiatives were definitely enforced. Leaves me very uneasy, because this is my future and I can't avoid it. Yeah I'll get the down votes for white privilege, etc. However, these policies do not foster equality, meritocracy, or development of technical skill. It basically enforces one of two things. 1. Be the one who used to be the go to person, see yourself get power passed left and right by people who work less and have less experience, throttle back and go with the flow. Do not tell leadership what to do when asked, because they know better. 2. Be the one who blindly accepts these positions all knowing you do not have the merit or experience necessary to be effective. Constantly repeat the same mistakes that others made before you, because people under you are going to realize you are not fit to lead and shut down. Either way both paths are a cancer eating at the core of the company. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and I would think that we had become smarter about promotions, not using dated initiatives from the 90s or the 00s. I guess not.

@12oEmc7S-3vej Speaks the truth
Bullies thrive wherever authority is weak. Weak leaders at the top.
They will never reach higher ground when they are always pushing others down.

I am making an effort to stand for what is right every day. I tell myself everyday to do the right thing and speak up. It is hard as I know I am painting a target on my back. My self respect is more valuable than money.
All the LL6 in my department have made a career out of the behaviors @12oEmc7S-3vej describes. Yet 20->30 years of the bad behaviors has gotten them no further than LL6. To be sure they still have a job, but no respect, and they must continue their bad behaviors to keep their job. Ask yourself if your self respect is worth an extra 10K a year.

One of the LL6 passed last year, two male coworkers said they went to the funeral to make sure he was really gone. It was sad as the LL6 made life miserable for everyone, even himself. Sadly, he was not even the worst of the LL6 lot. I think about this man often as I am counting my blessings. I wonder when he chose his path and if he wished he had chosen differently.
I have a theory that many of the LL* have become trapped and have adopted a learned helplessness to change their situation. May they have time over the holidays to reflect and reinvent themselves.

My buzzword post was meant to be sarcastic. Nobody loathes the daily emails containing this yammering more than I.

We have all had toxic people at work dust us with their poison, sometimes it’s more like a drenching. The difficult coworkers are routinely promoted and seem to enjoy wrapping the reasonable coworkers in barbed wire. Meanwhile those temporarily escaping the difficult coworkers attention silently count their blessings.

Actually we were hoping for someone that could lead a team and boost morale.
Instead we have someone that rattles off busy work and has zero clue how to manage people and really doesn't have people skills. Not to mention us worker bees hear that he isn't delivering and living up to his bosses expectations, so it's only a matter of time because he's already put the rope around his neck.
Jealous and bitter you say hoping for the job and become direct, it's your world and if that's what you think that's cool, if I was to become direct it wouldn't be for his job at all, but thanks for playing and assuming.
You get a trophy and a gold 🌟😉

The Ford culture created the current leadership Ford has today.

To be clear, Ford has an excellent set of executives skilled in backstabbing, finger pointing, and redirecting blame. It has come vary handy when dealing with quality issues, recalls, failed acquisitions, failed markets, outdated technology and layoffs... you get the idea.

The only skill that ever came useful in Ford was politics. If you could out maneuver your opponents you were more likely to raise to the top. Having an MBA and donating money to certain charities closely tied to Ford didn't hurt either!

Just a few small potholes “as we continue working together to become the world’s most trusted company “.

Remember , “we cultivate meaningful change to optimize today and create tomorrow. We look ahead in our focal length and bring clarity to the future. We solve problems creatively, accept risk, and experiment boldly”.

Dear - Former I.T. Top Achiever but SRD'd -
Fool that I am, I did expect leadership and coworkers to do their jobs with professionalism and adhere to the Ford truths and values, after all the senior leadership puts out weekly webcasts spouting the importance of said truths and values. Much too late I see that the truths and values only apply to only some of the employees.

Ford as a company is testing the limits on how much deception they can get away with. The main problem with rewarding dishonest and unethical behaviors is that it lets parasitic people thrive at the expense of the company. In the long run the dishonesty catches up with the company and it is outperformed/eliminated by more honest competitors.

Did you expect the FOMOCO leadership culture to do their jobs with accuracy and professionalism? You should know by now its all about out with the old and in with "Fresh Ideas". How many experienced folks have we lost since 2018? Only youth (inexperience) and frankly incompetence remains. Luckily we have The Big Brain to take the lead and lots of "Fresh Ideas" now in HR (benefit cluster-F@@@) in product development, in quality control, as well as most FOMOCO departments.

@12oEmc7S-1sua Let us not bring the Ford bullying culture to the forum.
The way the Ford system works is a bully creates chaos by creating a fake problem and pitting the entire team against each other. Then the bully calmly presents a solution to the problem to upper management. Upper management says hey this one guy is the only one who is calm cool and collected, everyone else is agitated and incompetent. So they promote the bully, then the bully plays the same game at the next level and so on. This is why you have all these type of people in leadership positions and the culture is so toxic.
You can spot these people a mile off after you have been at Ford for a year. They start off oozing charm and fool people for a short period. They need a constant supply of new admirers.

Sounds like the current recently promoted Jacobs contract head that became Ford direct at the wind tunnel garage, un- fit for this tool is an understatement.
DTF is an absolute joke run by unprofessional and uneducated trash.
Get it together Ford
