Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Changes post holiday

More job cuts coming down the pipeline. Just heard here in HE that if your store currently has an AP manager soon you will not. They are just planning on keeping AP at district and regional level. Stores will no longer have an AP manager if they currently do so. I think only a handful of stores have that role either way. Stores can no longer support that role and results are not what expected. Trimming of payroll is also coming in January. Be prepared to run stores at bare minimum with strict payroll restrictions. DMs will now be given hours that they have to allocate to their stores and can pull hours out from one to give to another if needed. There is also going to be a huge focus on stores not making plan. Close monitoring on payroll, and stores financial contribution to the company. Also be prepared for restructuring of the stores management team. There soon won’t be managers coded to specific business units. Be prepared to supervise any department or area. Take this all with a grain of salt as I have just word of mouth from someone in HR department. Only way to find out is to wait and see what happens.

Too late. TransformCo plans to shut down all them after Christmas anyway.

@2ain U have to ask? Kmart is going out of business. It's done. About 2% of their peak stores are still open. It's like a NFL team down 50-0 with 2 Minutes left in the 4th, no Timeouts. Yes, th4e game is not "technically" over, but come on, it's over. Or I'm playing Roger Federer in tennis, and I'm down 6-0, 5-0, and he's serving, up 30-Love. This can only end up one way and we all are aware what that is.

Why did 250 stores really close? Where I live the Kmart was really super busy. The whole Plaza showed Kmart Corp as owner. The Store Manager said this store would be the last store to close and even the busy Pharmacy had 2 techs working at times. The store got even busier when Shopko closed down the street. The Store Manager bragged that Dollar Tree pays them rent including the other 2 small stores attached and that Kmart actually owned the newly built Taco Bell. I asked why not put some money into the store and with all the stores that closed replace the badly sun faded sign and she said she could get no help from Corporate. In the grocery section I started noticing all these off brand products and the store was getting quite empty of course this was just after the bankruptcy, however little improved and now they are closing. I watched tons of You Tube videos of busy Kmart stores that were added to the closing list too. Why?

That may be true.
But Sears is the only big box store retailer with commisioned associates who work only in their department.
Really need to step it up and get into 2019 or at least 2000!!!

If you look at Yelp reviews all over the country, people not ringing up stuff outside their area is an almost every store problem.

Commission Sales never ringing up clothing is a "Store Issue." At my store, they either ring it or they no longer work at store . Never been an issue for years and years...

Which format are you referring to Sears or Kmart.
I am in a Sears store and we have an AP manager and we are a HIGH shrink store.

They have been saying this forever!

Cutting payroll loses the company money. Commissioned sales will never ring up clothing if they can help it. That's lost salary if they miss out on selling appliances. They just claim they can't ring up clothing, and of course, there's no one else on the floor to ring up clothing, so members just walk out without buying, probably forever. It's this kind of stupidity that ended the company. Eddie is so c-ap at retail he couldn't even run a successful lemonade stand. Whatshisname back in the 2000s made everyone work in the trenches. If Eddie did that he'd fail at every job at every level miserably, because of the stupidity of his own execution.

Isn't this what's been happening since at least 2016? Not trying to be disrespectful but pointing out that this hasn't worked before and it not going to work now. The transformation should have taken place years ago or quite frankly, not at all.
