Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Chained to your desk

Is anybody else across the Optum domain required to move their mouse and keyboard not more than a minute?

thankful for this site to help give us clues on survival here. Looks like I’m not the only unhappy one but the tips will help. I’m customer facing. I need a break. It’s tiring. Management doesn’t care or support us. all I know is they don’t want our jobs either. “I’m glad I don’t have your job” they said

To be honest there isn’t much work to do because we keep loosing accounts. On clinical team, We word hard. We just work efficiently and when there is no work yes we watch TV. So we have great work ethic. Don’t judge us. We’re still here and the slow ones who drag out there work to last all day to appear as if they are working, some of those were let go this week. So I vote to keep doing it my way, if work in front of me do it, but if finished, watch TV, do laundry, whatever. No shame at all, just coping with the reality that some depts have tons of work due to mass layoffs and the ones left behind can’t handle it understandabley... And yet those of us dangling know our time may be short anyway we might as well take a breather in a company which has never valued our health and well-being during the workday so we can start to plan our exit or backup plan which will be needed given the lack of business compared to last year!

It’s work related and about working conditions, which is employees’ right protected by NLRA Act, don’t see a reason why it should be removed.

this has nothing to do with layoffs and should be removed.

This post is ridiculous. I’d like the person that does their work in the morning, and watches TV all day, to tell us what the hell department they work in. That’s just nonsense.

If the people in the Philippines and other countries is whom they want to work for this company, I wish they hurry up and get the lay-offs over with. It’s no secret at this point. Do it already. Get it over with please.

To : @12f8XAGQ-4als: If you think the poster's work ethic is ok, then you aren't the type of person to be working at Optum. If you think stealing, and yes, its stealing, half a days pay while watching tv is OK, then you're part of the problem and exactly why layoffs are happening. Cutting dead wood, like 12f8XAGQ-zaz should be happening. That person's work ethic is c-ap, and not representative of 90% of the people in Optum.

To Anonymous 12f8XAGQ-1ziw: I hope and pray you wake up to the fact that the employee below is clearly depressed and burned out. Watch your words and intent as you are eagerly wanting someone possibly suffering to be let go. Karma always happens so watch out. The only ones posting posts like yours are the reason working here at Optum s—s. Be helpful and encourage people and you may see life turn for the best for you! I think the employee posting was hilarious and I appreciated their honesty. I myself am job searching so I congratulate the person below who has decided not to invest in Optum. Let’s encourage one another to leave this place not stay here!

Yes, DAA tracks all programs and app accessed, however, management rarely looks at any other reports besides DAA. Nor do they have control over " production" applications vs "support tools" ... so first, I'd worry about idle/locked time and don't use you're work PC for the internet, if you didn't know that already.

Yes so just to be safe, put yourself on mute via your headset when not on calls

I know they are audio recording the employees’ entire shift even when calls aren’t being made in that moment. They will lie and say they aren’t because they don’t have the employees consent to do it.

DAA is called Backoffice. (Or NICE_Backoffice). You can check your secure apps and systems.
Manager reporting is called Energy.

What is DAA and how do you know if you have it installed?

To the person that thinks "finishing their work in the morning and watching tv the rest of the day" is acceptable, think again.
The DAA system goes way beyond mouse movements and key strokes. The reporting show every app, every system, every folder, every drive you are in and when.... and beyond. Trust me!! When I say, it can even see what documents you are in and when.
If this is your work ethic over the past 7 years. Your days should be numbered.

What is this software called, it’s full name?

To my knowledge, audio is not included in DAA. DAA counts idle and PC locked time. High idle and /or locked time will flag management that you are not at your desk working. As the previous poster stated, it accumulates any non movement over 1 minute as idle.

This does not surprise me one bit. Now I can add "robot" to my resume.

Are they audio recording too even when phone calls are not being made?

If DAA is installed on your PC, it will track your mouse/keyboard movement. Anything over 1 minute is counted as idle and accumulates all day. Mgmt gets a daily report of idle time. They can "see" when you're not moving your mouse or keyboard now.

Yes if you work hard and get your work done in morning first hour or so, you can spend rest of your day sitting and watching TV. Wiggle your mouse every ten minutes and you’ll be fine. It’s worked for me for 7 years. Be close enough to desk to hear IM dings and respond as needed so that you are able to jump back to work at any given time if new stuff comes in. Most supervisors hate to be bothered so don’t bother them and they leave you alone because micromanaging takes work and they are tending to do less and less of that these days. Give minimum emotional investment into this company because they do not care about you or your health and make sure you know in the end they can chop you anytime if they see your screen goes blank and mouse isn’t being moved. So just spend time getting resume ready and start job searching. Also, you can spend day texting coworkers but don’t IM them just text using your phone. And then smile knowing holidays are coming and it will be even less stress. Don’t invest, do de-stress! The workforce overall healthcare managed care is learning working hard never gets us anywhere. Work, but work less. Work to keep a job and deal with disengagement by engaging your brain in things in life that matter like friendships, family, love, peace, etc. Have a happy and peaceful holidays away from your mouse wiggling duties :)

Do you mean the DAA ? That counts idle time? You would want to move your mouse each minute, not be told not to? You don't want idle time.
