Thread regarding VMware layoffs

BUs hit by budget freeze until layoffs in January

After doing a full round of interviews I had a recruiter tell a candidate they have had an offer. After discussing the details of the offer over the phone, the next day, due to the layoffs in January, several BUs have had their recruitment budgets put on hold. No more job offer.

I know some other vmware managers are going to be leaving on their own terms soon. I have been told 1000 roles cut this Jan, which WILL include new hires.

Not a good time to join this company!

I work at VMware, I can backup what was said in Post ID: @12cTnOsd-8xzj

I'm not in NSBU but the same applies to the BU I'm in. This confirms the cronyism and toxicity is not only in my BU. The whole Indians promoting Indians to senior positions who are talking out of their a– most of the time and don't know sh– is truly demoralizing. I've had conversations with Staff 2 or Senior Staff that left me scratching my head after asking wtf just happened, I really, really wanted to ask them how they were hired but the answer is pretty obvious.

The toxic culture at VMware gets worse each day.

vmware is no longer a freestanding company. It's owned by Dell, which is owned by venture $$$$.

What do you honestly expect to happen when facing the fact that the money holders want their ROI?

The toxic culture at VMware gets worse each day. The annual layoffs events enabled managers to deepen this debt. This annual tradition is the major way that ended up VMware with this racist toxic culture. Picking on individual under umbrella of business needs is an outdated racist concept.

I have been at VMware for 11 years and I only see acceleration of this racism and personal favoritism. Have never seen such inexperienced teams under inexperienced individuals given very senior titles just because they are Indians. See NSBU. I have a list of directors, senior directors, and senior staff who are so inexperienced to a disgusting point.

Unless the upper leadership realizes and examines them, it is gone get uglier each year.

Frankly, I am seeing law suits flying in the near term.

Sad to say. VMware age discriminate. They layoff older workers and replace them with inexperienced workers for less pay. Typical tech company.

Its a toxic culture - narcissistic vp's and directors who hire more of the same.
some of these folks up top are so arrogant they think its never gonna end....directors and vps that have been promoted w/out having ever managed people - and it SHOWS!

Sales forecasts are lies built on bullying by the management team to cover their asses (until the house of cards falls apart...and then its the field sales folks fault).

VMware has turned in to another reseller of everyone else's cloud (apparently they'll sign an agreement w/ anyone...aws, azure, gap...and whoever they think can get them to the "number" next).

its turned into a tele-sales sales model....low cost, excuses and made up reasons not to pay commissions.....the field has had it...and isn't gonna take it much longer (theyre building their cases and gathering documentation to show willful withhold).

Tomorrow's earnings will be a clear sign to what's coming. The stock will likely to take a steep dive due to expected decline in growth/revenues and high operation cost.
Considering the current and future head count after the acquired companies are fully on board, a lay off will be the quickest way to save cost sadly.
