Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

How is GRC?

Guys,
I am currently negotiating an offer with GRC niskayuna for a SPB position and wanted to know if it is recommended to join? I understand there were some site shutdowns and layoffs 2-3 years ago and there is currently a funding model change ongoing. What do current and past employees suggest?

Thanks!

Charge rate = (# of execs fighting to be relevant ) / (# worker bees)

Heard the rates are also going up again. I think they tried to explain how our rates work, but I don't think I follow - how is it that I have an excellent year and barely get a 2% raise, yet my charge rate goes up 15-20%?!!

The difference now vs five years ago is that we can’t support the cost of all this dead weight. Our rates are not sustainable.

@jae is clever- not recommended due to “a bait” at this time.

1pdc, you would have said the same thing 5 years ago.

GRC could be a great place to work if they could slow the talent drain. They need to purge the dead weight at the top. They have SEB’s and Officers whom are completely useless who value smooth talkers who take credit rather than those who actually deliver results. Vic either can’t see it or is to weak to do anything about it. Then again he put most of these leaders in place so it’s really his style that has been so corrosive and demoralizing to the researchers.

GRC is largely ahead of the corporate functions in getting to a new model. The relationships with Corporate and the businesses are largely set and the direction of the research center is clear and supported by the CEO and Vice Chair. Lie any organization it has its challenges but its still a great place to work with a bright future

Hello I'm a PhD who has received an offer from GRC. I have successfully completed several independent research projects, advancing science through study and my own work over three years. To make my final life changing decision, I decided to solicit advice from a bunch of disgruntled retired union machinists lacking even a high school education. What say you men? Special consideration will be given to those sitting in their underwear while they type.

It’s just another corporate cesspool, so if your a s—a$$, you’ll be just fine, otherwise look elsewhere, careers die @ GRC.

You mean to say GRC is a bait and not recommended to join at this time?

you need to be more specific–what is the role? GEGR has a plethora of functions, researchers, and support folks
