Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Unitedhealth and Optum - Scummy Layoffs

  • Pegging off Telecommuters to avoid the Warn Act and the bad publicity. This fall, and continuing through end of year, thousands upon thousands are let go. Black Tuesday over and over. Four thousand on one day alone in November. Usually the highest paid let go in the group. Which usually also means the oldest.
  • Company withholding severance payout for 4-8 weeks. "Processing time" it claims when you call and ask when it's coming.
  • With severance payout delay, your health insurance ends prior to being able to pay for COBRA. Ironic from a "helping people live healthier lives" company.
  • Sending out "Redeployment emails" to your personal email account which are actually about your LAPTOP's redeployment, not yours.
  • Sr. Leaders ridicule you when delivering the layoff message if you live in a state that requires more pay than UHG wants to provide.

I was a telecommuter, over 40 and laid off on 10/02/20. Avoided WARN. It is worse now since that date. Wave 5 of lay-off is Thursday, 02/06/20. So far the over 20k from what we know.

From the Motley Fool: On Oct. 15, [2019] UnitedHealth Group beat Wall Street's estimates on the top and bottom lines – and raised its earnings outlook for the rest of 2019. Instead of a range between $14.40 and $14.70 per share, adjusted earnings are expected to fall between $14.90 and $15 per share. The midpoint of that revised guidance range works out to a 16% year-over-year gain for UnitedHealth Group.

16% YOY Gain??? And they're laying off??

Has anyone started a class action lawsuit for people laid off 40 years old or older?

FFS.. 50th time.. telecommuters aren't tied to an office. If your mail code is 910/920 you aren't physically seated in an office and not included in WARN at all. Blame the governments outdated policies not keeping up with WAH vs UHC. No, I'm not a corporate shill, this is basic sh– on the hub you aren't reading that's readily available to you.
Any emails you receive that are obnoxious after your announcement should be fwd'd/printed if you pursue arbitration.

You can clearly see the difference in GL's posting. Nevermind the bad grammar, the reading comprehension isn't there. If someone is throwing out a 4k number willy nilly, If someone wants to own a 4k layoff number, then they should be able to provide a division at least. Last week many new hires were laid off with tenured employees. So again, the OP should be providing facts, at least a department and broad number. Apparently this boards just turned into tenured people b–ching and fear mongering vs making fact based decisions with some kind of accountability.

@1252Ng62-ryu - oh please. I'm just as p-ss-d off as anyone, but I'm not throwing out a 4k number to fear monger either. Save yours also, I don;t work for Human Capital.

To the guy asking for sources: You're rude. Why are you on this forum if you're so thrilled with UHC? You love the company so much that you come go out on layoff forums and harass people. Or are you being paid by UHC to monitor these boards. I think the person who has been laid off 4 times has a right to be bitter. People go through hardship when they are unemployed. They are stressed and scared which is understandable. You can lose a lot including your home, your car, etc.

Ihave worked for uhc for over 16 years, been laid off 4 times and rehired each time, and i have only seen it get worse. Uhc does Not care about you, their members , etc... ONLY MONEY! They are a for profit health plan company. More and more jobs will go offshore, until only the "on shore restricted" mbrs claims will be done by workers in the US.

You just sound bitter. Provide your general area and save the whining. Wasn't 4k laid off, I want what you're smoking.
