Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How to tell if a VP has been fired or just quit

FIRED

  • Their boss sends out the first email announcing that they are 'retiring'
  • They leave really quick, like the same week
  • There seems to be an unbelievable narrative that 'they choose to leave'
  • On their way out, they mention past successes but fail to leave any confidence in the new leadership
  • They have a glazed look in their eye like they have no idea what they will do after Intel

QUIT

  • They announce they are leaving in 3 months with plenty of time to transition someone and wrap-up loose ends
  • They seem genuinely happy

Half of the VPs need to be gone anyway. There are a gazillion VPs at Intel, way too many.

That's only true if they have a bad Admin, or no admin and aren't good at managing their calendar, @ablu. Seen both when I worked there. Although.... sometimes they don't want to clue anyone in and keep their calendar current.

They literally have meetings scheduled on what turns out to be their ‘last day’ and are a no-show. Shortly thereafter comes the email from Sr VP
