Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Another round of layoffs?

On a serious note, has any of the other shops been hearing talk about another round of layoffs in all the crafts? At Conway the pipefitters and boilermakers are pretty much done, but it's been talk that the laborers/fireman oilers are going to be next. And, it's possible that they're going to lay off more electricians and machinists even though there aren't even have enough to run the shifts.

Currently don't have the room. The construction estimates were quoted around $100 million. With the mainlines hugging the yard and the ability to get trains in and out quickly it's to vital and convenient of a yard to close. Every regime has wanted to close Conway. PRR knew what they were doing when they built that yard.

3rd quarter results to be broadcast in a little over a week, so look for another round of needless cuts soon.
