Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Chuck out the Chimps

Open message to any institutional investors and in particular, the board...

Any ‘leadership team’ (LT) that can’t manage cashflow or forecast accurately should be fired.

Any LT that can’t manage or lead their employees by example should be fired.

Any LT that can’t understand their market or articulate their proposition concisely....I assume that you get the picture.

If the business needs to cut costs and adjust its GTM, then the surgical adjustments should be at the LT level, assuming that investors will ultimately expect a return.

Could be that there are some better bets who
Know the business inside out and genuinely understand what needs to be done....

Live long and prosper...

To 11tB84wP-3onj, KT was about the only NCR person around since mid- 2016 other than DH. Yes, the former ELT made some bad decisions not to respond to open source and cloud, but again they were all let go starting May 2016. It is October 2019. I have been gone since December 2017, but still in the industry. If you truly think it is a NCR hangover and needs a few more years to turn the corner, I do hope you the best of luck.

OR hires more women leaders. That's good thing.

@11tB84wP-3onj, that is the reason they are rebuilding the team. You cannot blame OR for the the mess KT and other NCR folks created. It will take about few years.

Then who would you point it to. The problem is that no one take accountability for anything and that’s one of the major reasons they are where they are

@11tB84wP-1cym Then why have not the left. Rather than just talking time to move fwd. Basically easy to point fingers then do something about it.

90% of people I talk to are ready to go. They have had enough.

I have a team that is almost completely new . Why - because I was told to 'let them go' last year.
Then people realised we got it wrong and so we need to recruit loads of people.
Lots of interviews; lots of costs; lots of additional effort. No logic and no planning.

The value to Teradata, none. Worse, we have impacted individuals who will naturally wax lyrical about what a great place Teradata is to work in their new roles. Have you seen the reviews on Glassdoor?

There is little appetite to wait and see what happens. When people get the right opportunity they are out the door quicker than Jack Flash. Work is a large part of life, so when leadership gets it so wrong, it is only natural that good people leave.

So, if there was a reasonable voluntary severance package on offer - who would stay ?

As a long term employee, for the last 3 years it has been hard to watch. Our strength was in customer relationship, strength of technology, and our people. OR and the LT don’t see that. Nice to see OR on the NYSE, social media happiness, ping pong tables in RB. But u can’t discount the massive intellectual capital that are gone. This is smoke and mirrors, logos are leaving every day. And no companies joining. Hard to see opportunities.
