Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

So Jo Mason goes to be replaced by Mary E. Finch

So the steakcutter who milked DXC for millions of dollars looks like has gone. Just been announced that DXC has a new head of HR ex Accenture who seems to have a very good pedigree in HR, unlike the CSC woman who was Lawries side kick.

Makes you sick when you read https://wallmine.com/people/32326/joanne-mason as see the millions Mason has taken from DXC whilst destroying peoples lives.

Old Mikey picked up a bonus for WFR'ing me (the best possible outcome for me) but there is no way that I will ever willingly want to return to work for DXC which is full of dunderheads and lazy layabouts that are just useless. Good riddance to old Mikey and the Cheif Steak Cutter, though sadly new Mikey and new HR woman will be no better than the fools they tossed out.

I’ve never understood the two manager approach either.

With this two in box management is just a waste of resources. One (1) manager who manages you functionally and handles the people stuff is all you need. That will cut managers in 1/2 and the saves from that can be paid out to real workers.

Have a 360 degree appraisal process would be a good idea.

I'd absolutely love to be able to stick it to my useless boss who never bothers to pay any attention to our team, never brings any ideas or direction to us, never even tries to listen to us or even answers any emails we send.

He must spend all of his time just licking upwards in meetings about meetings with his own managers.

Get some sort of 360 degree review or some actual KPI's that are focused on managers own performance, not the performance of their workers who create minor miracles every day without his involvement whatsoever.

1jkg - still have plenty of meat to cut up and down DXC and he needs to come out fighting with a strong Digital message and IP + strategy to reverse the extremely bad reputation of DXC.

Also he can sell off unprofitable bits of the company and cut down the various duplicate management layers, can do this by getting management to apply for their jobs every 2 years - this in theory should remove the Yes teaboy / girl managers and also nasty+snide+bullying managers from the organization

The outsource/offshore/nearshore card is played out. There is no more meat on that bone.

The property portfolio trick is done too.

The employee strip is overdone, the spending control is over tightened.

Those were all good ideas, but Sal will find nothing more from those, he needs to look somewhere else and I am fairly sure he knows that too.

He might find that having a truly two way street with the employees yields a significant uptick in efficiency though because all I see are people around me dragging their feet because DXC hasn't given a sh1t about them. I'd suggest you might see upwards of a 20% gain if you stopped the war on staff and started offering real money for performance. I don't mind if its not a flat raise across all staff, but if we do well, actually reward us - you know, like every other d@mned company out there.

@ohq

Accenture is an outsourcing company?

Err so is DXC, so was CSC, so was HPE ES. What’s new there. CSC / DXC even outsourced their own Networks dept to AT&T. History proves DXC was / is a far more aggressive outsourcer.

I don’t think by any stretch your comment makes any sense.

The culture has become toxic, and employees are jaded. Only big ideas and big actions can save this company.

@ohq: very, very good point. Look closely not at the garbage that is being thrown out, but at what is being used to replace it. She talks pretty words, but Sal believes in outsourcing / cost-cutting / treating people like disposable rubbish. He is only going to bring on board those that follow this "proven playbook".

I am not a DXC employee, but I would look carefully at the new Head of HR. She comes from Accenture, just like your new Mike. I would be worried about two things:

New Mike bringing over his pals and cronies.

The fact that Accenture is an outsourcing house. Which most likely means you will be looking at accelerated outsourcing.

No get rid of all the managers who were singing from the same song sheet as these buffoons and helped to sack thousands of good people.

Do you suppose Ms. Finch may actually stop the practice of DXC job postings start with "CSC Covansys Corporation has an opening for a ... " ( Where Covansys was an India based firm that was bought out by CSC > 10 years ago. This is the ultimate in cronyism where the people who create job requests still believe that they work for Covansys or perhaps it is the manager is just so lazy that they keep modifying the same job posting without reading it?" How many talented professionals would apply for a company that doesn't even know their name ? (Indeed has 22 job postings for DXC that are for covansys as of today).

She and Mikey who were both booted out and sacked gone to their homes, yachts with their millions. Good DXC to get some balls to this (12 months too late) but there needs to be radical changes by new Mike with useless and bully management removed from firm (from Top to bottom) to turn this titanic disaster around.

After trousering millions in stock options on the backs of sacked employees, she trundles off into a golden retirement sunset.

If there really was karma, she would be penniless for all the misery she helped to carry out.
