Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Current October Layoff Season Morale at Juniper 1-10 Scale?....

Self explanatory. 1 being worst.

  1. ) With layoffs coming, yet again, in October what is the morale in your radius of colleagues?
  1. ) Are people actually actively looking for jobs and have really left for greener pastures or is it just us knuckleheads on this board that just complain?

Layoffs started again. But definitely seeing jobs are out there. A guy I know recently landed job offers at every FAANG. Every single one! He's not brilliant or anything but he did prepare respectably.

So much truth to the last comments. I have two ex colleagues in software engineering who left a while ago to some good companies. Both have already been promoted and their wages are surreal. One of them told me 3 in his small team were also promoted in grade level & title in short time. Both easily make more than practically any VP here and they're just midlevel SWEs!

They really prepped though. With what's happening today in the SWE salary wars if you can overcome preparation laziness then the world is your oyster!

If there's one group of professional that needs to seriously recalibrate their comp., it's SWE. SWEs are on another tier of comp. substantially higher from everyone else, including management. It's easily there for the taking (double comp) as long as you prep (months) with stuff like Leetcode.

I think there are several SWE in Juniper who are unaware of comp outside of Juniper. When I was in Juniper, lots of folks used to tell that Juniper comp is excellent and is the only reason that is keeping them from looking outside. These were folks who were unhappy in Juniper for a variety of reasons, but thought that they would need to take a pay cut if they move out. Even in my case, I used to think Juniper comp is on the higher side. Once I interviewed and got offers outside, I was literally shocked at how much money folks are ready to throw at you.

Maybe Juniper comp was good till 2010 or so, then the industry exploded and salaries have literally skyrocketed. Juniper salaries have remained largely constant in this timeframe. For folks reading this, look at levels.fyi if you want to look at comp in other companies. One more source is "Blind" App in which folks discuss various things, but mostly comp for SWE in tech companies in Bay Area/Seattle. Another website is reffo.us in which folks discuss job offers in various companies.

First time I saw these numbers, I though this is all BS and folks are just exaggerating. But after I started getting offers, I realized that these are real numbers.

Lots of sw companies in Bay area are looking to hire SWE, folks in Juniper are just wasting their time sticking with Juniper. Move out and feel what the world has to offer you.

@11jsykS2-3bmb Glad to hear some are wising up. For every year you procrastinate on the move, you're leaving hundreds of thousands on the table in RSU refreshers, higher base with yearly inflation increases of 7%+, consistent 100%+ bonus targets. Plus, don't forget the periodic promotions. This is in addition to your new comp. that can be 50-100%+ greater at the outset (especially for SWEs). Oh yeah, and no stealth layoffs every month. How about free food at a lot of these companies? Heck, even stingy Cisco offers respectable snack levels nowadays in their break rooms!

Everyone is interviewing externally, we all talk about it openly! I really hope I am part of the upcoming cull - i’d hate to leave without a little goodbye package!
Anyone know approx when the layoffs will be?
