Thread regarding Sears layoffs

CONFIRMED(not rumored)California closures

Based on official news reports (from at least USA Today Network if not other news outlets)and/or the Sears Jobs and K-mart Jobs official twitter accounts since early August, four Sears stores(Antioch,Carlsbad,Eureka, and Northridge)and 8 K-Mart locations(Camarillo,Desert Hot Springs,Lakeport,North Hollywood,Oakdale,Redlands,Salinas, and Tehechapi)have all been confirmed for closure by the end of January;and given that the situation at Hoffman Estates has gotten so dire that they've stopped disclosing closure lists to the media, there have been rumors of further closures within the Golden State(can't yet find any reputable reports of Hayward and West Covina locations closing).Just trying to separate fact from fiction/rumor,and the longer Arden Fair(last Sacro location)hangs on the better for us Shop Your Way members...

@2pok I certainly hope the Bishop CA Kmart doesn't close. It's a good store with good employees. Myself and all the other residents of Mammoth Lakes shop there all the time.

@2inb. I tend to agree with you. When they announced Northridge CA was closing that sent shock waves throughout all of Southern CA. Closing Northridge is comparable to closing Woodfield.

@1muy I am well aware of the size of CA. They have about 38 million people and 24 Kmarts. But TX has about 29 million and only 1 Kmart. Also NY has 19 million people and 7 Kmarts.Since CA is double the population of NY, it should (if it follows the proportions of NY) have 14 stores not 24. IL is a pretty big state too. Has about 12 million people. Guess how many Kmarts it has? 1. So yes, we all Know CA is the biggest state in the country, it's not a big secret. However, using the rations of Kmarts per population of other states, it is overrepresented by any metric. So is ND by the way. ND has only 700000 people yet has 2 Kmarts remaining. There is no reason ND should have more stores than IL, or T for example.

Your stores are empty. Cheap watches and c-appy stuff from closed does not make a retail store success. Walmart gets trucks daily ,twice a week is for kids. K marts are a shell of a store. Its over and please shut off the lights on the way out, its bad for the environment.

@1jcc Empty stores? Not all. Our Sears store continues to get regular full trucks once a week. in fact, we actually got 2 trucks a couple of times. The trucks are a mixture of regular merchandise as well as merchandise from closed stores. I will admit we have not received a lot of Christmas yet. That will be the tell tale sign. In all honesty I don't expect much.

By California you are next. October or November your done. 4th quarter starts next week. Hoffmans empty stores have no inventory, vendors are not shipping, the sears name is now a black eye for us that worked there. Its ruined and its all over and the vultures sre coming.

@1ofe. The reason California has so many stores is because the state of California is the 5th largest economy in the whole world. California passed the United Kingdom earlier this year. On the downside, when Sears and Kmart close all the stores California will be a bloodbath.

I’m honestly surprised the Chico Kmart hasn’t closed. The paradise store is gone after the fire, Redding sears and Kmart have been gone for awhile, Chico sears is gone. Strangely a weird little Sears is still left in yuba city

They are (proportionally to other states) WAY overrepresented in CA. I think they have about 24 non-closing stores (give or take) as of now. TX, a state with almost the same population, has 1 store, as do many other states, like IL, MN, AZ, WA, WV, and many other states. Even another "big" state like NY only has, about 7 left. I expect CA to be trimmed, drastically, to be more in line, proportionally, with other states.
In fact, the only states that will have more than 3 Kmarts will be CA, FL, MD, MA, & PA. Every other state (by my calculations) will be at 3 or fewer. (I'm only referring to "states", not territories like USVI or PR).

Northridge closure is huge. It is a flagship store in California and LA metro. It is considered the company store in California.

All those stores are closing and it's old news. West Covina Kmart was told last week they were closing. You're a little late to the party.

Day late & $1 short, buddy. You are posting ancient news here, from August. Here are the links to this revolutionary news that you just posted. Only problem is, this information was all public since August. LOL:

And

@Bear Flaggers for Bernie. You Know what dude? I don't mean to be rude, but you posted no links or anything. So as the expression goes. "links, or it didn't happen". If you want to post "confirmed not rumored" then either post some links, or don't expect it to be taken as "not rumored", LOL!!!
Secondly, most of the stores listed on here are part of that Aug. 31 announcement in USA TODAY, so you are about 24 Days late with this so called "bombshell news" LOL. Camarillo was not on that Aug. 31 list, but I did post a link to it on this website A Few Days ago. Here is that USA TODAY link from Aug. 31, which already contains most of the locations u mentioned here:
