Managers who do not respect diversity and hire their own kind, practice cronyism, should be laid off first.
One is the reasons why SAP sank so badly is because managers are given so much powers, and they use it to solidify their own empires instead of getting the best to achieve good outcome
Imagine, as well, the devastating realization that, after devoting a significant chunk of your adult life to SAP, you were dismissed because you were, essentially, "Old and In The Way." I have, personally, managed to somehow retain my position here, but am at the age that, after having worked hard, contributed significantly (as evidenced by a long string of exceptional performance reviews), and put all of my energy into building a family, a career, and a reputation, where I am in danger of being kicked to the curb. People can coldly and blindly, behind a veil of anonymity, post hurtful comments about older workers, while failing to understand that at a certain age it is downright impossible to get a job in certain parts of the world... You work hard, you devote your life and then you are set adrift.
To all of you younger workers out there, just one word for you to keep in mind as you slavishly lash out at us older guys: Karma.
Oh, and one other word: Peace.
This discussion about age discrimination is one of treating age like a physical impairment.
If one has proven track record, relevant (!) job experience, can communicate and does not expect unreasonable salaries getting a job is no problem.
What devastating feeling would it be to know you got hired just because a quota reserved a certain percentage of openings for irrelevant old f.rts.

Tell me. Since every corporation needs to be fair in its hiring/firing policies, how exactly would you quantify "honoring" diversity. Here's hoping that your age matches your clear lack of life experience and sophistication.
Ah, but @11ZnWKQF-enm, if you read most of the entries on this site, the problem is the older employees (aka "The Dead Weight"). The blatant age discrimination that took place during round whatever of the restructuring, along with the blatant and shameful age discrimination spewed by the semi-literate dimwits who peddle fear on this site is, quite simply, disgusting. The culture, as it is today, simply wears down the older, experienced, loyal employees, k–ling their motivation.
Sorry, but Managers will not be fired over diversity policies. SAP is a global company and will cover their tracks with regional minorities on the team. As far as the US NSQ headquarters, they have really amped up to comply with the diversity & inclusion trends. In 10 years I was there, I saw more LGBT, African Americans, Veterans and Autistic employee’s than I ever did when I started. Good for them but this trend will fade when numbers count. The good ole White Boys club will never die. They take their lead from Germany where upper management is still pasty white Men with a few token white Women thrown in. Not just bashing SAP, many US corporations are the same.
cronyism seems to be a value practiced by certain groups more consistently. It may relate to their culture norms or practices. question is how does SAP leadership remove that with their policies and leadership direction?
our Finance department is much more adaptable. even T&E claims policies can be defined at local level to suit local practices and values. We should have the same spirit in stamping out discriminatory hiring, promotion, firing. Our HR really has no muscle, supporting the lousy managers
Early talent are also trying to escape... it’s a sinking ship and the young ones are not taken in by the false publicity. They run once they find something. SAP leadership just use a few self-selected clowns to shown the world they are “grooming” next generation.
This has been going on for years and will continue to happen because top management turns a blind eye on these unfair practices - they don't want to rock the boat too much because they are doing the same thing. The Diversity and Inclusion program at SAP is a joke, they are all hypocrites and not sure how they look themselves in the mirror and be proud of what they do. They continue to preach that they are proud of their program meanwhile they continue to violate one of the most noticeable guidelines - age discrimination. They are forcing loyal and productive senior employees out the door - their performance is not a deciding factor, it is their age and their well earned salary. Just take a look at their current hiring practice - early talent only!!
