Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Kmart Website

Hi, does anybody Know why Kmart's website hasn't been UPDATED in Ages? There are still stores listed, like Toms River NJ, Erie PA, Rapid City SD, Fostoria OH, Grand Forks ND, etc., that have not been open since 2018! I contacted them on FB & Twitter about it, and just got the standard answer about "we'll take your comments into consideration", etc.

I even messaged Louis Costello, the PR director, on FB and he didn't reply. Why would they want to leave long-since, closed stores listed on the site? Do they want their store count to artificially appear larger than it really is?

@csh Probably so but would it hurt them to at least only list the open stores LOL? Not sure how it benefits them to mislead customers to closed stores.

IT is responsible for both the Kmart and Sears website. They know Kmart isn't lasting beyond the first half of 2020.

It must be a Kmart thing. I know that as soon as a auto center is announced to be closing it is removed within a day from the website.

@vpi Honestly I wasn't answering my own question LOL, but was just thinking allowed and wondering if anyone had any theories as to why they are doing this. It was just a guess on my part LOL.

"Do they want their store count to artificially appear larger than it really is?" answering your own question, 10 points!

@jim, I agree they are lazy. But it seems that this would take some IT computer nerd about 90 Seconds to just delete stores that haven't even been open THIS YEAR. Some customer might just go by the website, and drive there without calling, and find the store is long since vacant. As u indicated, this will certainly anger customers, as in your example.
And the fact that they are very evasive with me when I ask them about it, seems to show me that they don't want to discuss the issue. I'm rambling but the point I'm making is that I think they purposely DO NOT want to fix it. Maybe they want it to look like they have more stores than they do? Not sure why they would want to do that though. Hmmmmm.......

They must be lazy. A couple of years before 4215 closed the open time changed from 8 to 9 but the website never updated which angered customers who showed up in the 8 oclock hour after looking at the website.
