This is strange indeed! Less than 10 years ago, Hasso actually made very positive comments about SAP employees!

Not sure why Hasso talks about pretzel, it is not helping in the self assurance of employees. Maybe the pretzel is a dramatic expression to explain some of the management’s decisions.

And too boot - the change to S4 is so disruptive and so costly, people fall out of their chairs when the size and scope of the project is actually laid out to them.
The success stories you hear about are almost exclusively tiny little greenfield deployments with a few dozen users, not migrations of large cash generating ECC's. This is not disputable.
Hasso, we spent 1 billion usd implementing ECC in our organization convinced that the asset that would last at least 25 years. Now you tell us the life of the asset is only 10 years and we will have to re-build the ERP landscape at even higher price?
No.
We are now motivated in finding alternatives for our business - probably providing opportunity to many companies outside the SAP ecosystem.
Hasso ought to swap the pretzels with poppadoms and the guys will be a lot more motivated and creative as a result. And cost less to boot, not!

This should not distract from the technological fossils in his own company, especially the ABAP platform that is still the fundament S/4.

Hasso Plattner himself created this culture of a self-contained company that does not care about what happened in the outside world. Proprietary technology that is not competitive at all, e.g. HANA and Fiori, not to mention the ABAP platform. Mr Plattner hyped this as if it was a 10 levels above competitors. Look at all the TechEds, SAP inside tracks etc.
SAP is like a sect. His culture lead to the arrogance and complacency that Mr Plattner now is complaining about.
Wow - this guy needs to retire yesterday. SAP is in bad shape, this sounds like the activist investor talking. Lets not even get into the fact that SAP is bleeding talent that is being snapped up by Google.
