Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Union shop techs got bbt5 bumps with 10% increases while your lucky to get 2%. We have hard to acheive metrics while they will have no metrics. They have a contractor layoff clause, successor clause, and greivance rights while we have things constantly taken away. When will you guys wake up and grow a spine and stop being so afraid, with the exception of the a$$kisser techs who still believe the company has their best interests in mind.

Just remember while a union is a good thing (depending on which union it is) what u have now can be negotiated away when it comes time to redo contracts you are not grandfathered into anything. Anyone that is in the union should have the contracts just ask one of them I’m sure they’ll show ya. Altice is a c-ap company to work for if u can find something better by all means do it otherwise stop complaining and do something about it or continue to be sheep. I hope everything works out in the end for the techs.

It’s true for union shops only. OSP techs did get bumped up to bbt5 & that comes with a 10% increase in pay. Happened in our shops that are union. Our shops have career progression & no more metrics after 2019. Once again, this is for union shops only. At will shops have no CBA, therefore do not get this. Best of luck though.

What you said is 100% false. When the contract is up & it’s time to renegotiate you start with what you had in the last contract & negotiate from there. You will never get less then what you had in your previous contract. Please don’t spread false information. I only ask that before you post on here, that it be 100% accurate. Thank you.

As a union member and former employee of cablevision your best bet is to go to the actual union and start the process of becoming an apprentice best thing i ever did.

Union is good but keep in mind all the great stuff you allegedly have now can all or some be negotiated away in the next contract, altice is a c-ap company to work for now your better looking for something better

The days of companies appreciating and or wanting in house workers are done . They do not care who does the work or the quality of work. The cable industry is dead as far as a career , they will all only get worse Union or no Union . Know your value . Go work for the state or the electric company. Try to get into your local plumbing or electric Union. Those are all susataimable careers.

I don’t get it either. I don’t think guys fully understand what it means to be an at will tech. Guys trust me, it’s well worth the 1% dues considering what the union has, will, & can do for us. Your only fooling yourself if you think otherwise. It’s time to wake up & grow a pair. This company does not care about you at all. Good luck.
