Thread regarding Whiting Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Laid off

I got laid off after over 10 years. As for who I saw get let go it seemed in Denver to be senior people (redlined on pay) and people who you would really want to hold onto if you intended to be an ongoing business but not if you are parting it out.

I have been threw multiple lay-offs on the planning side, never have I seen outside HR hired to fire people, very impersonal. I was not even allowed to pack my stuff, given a parking validation pass (which did not work) and not so much as a handshake from my leadership. That was not the honest and open culture Mr Holly likes to talk about so much.

I am sorry to hear about what you had to go through. BH has a very poor track record at his previous employer and to be honest, I am not surprised that Whiting Petroleum employees had to go through this experience under his leadership, or lack thereof. He is inhumane.

To the survivors: Learn from what you saw. Start packing your parachute, take your pers items home (including your digital stuff), work your resume, consider career changes, investigate how to pay for health insurance after COBRA runs out.

@10j8cAEd-1hqa Not letting people pack their important belongings is very low class, but not unheard of. I learned a long time ago to not take stuff to work that is really important to me.

The part about not even being able to pack your stuff is very sad. That's a very low class move from a group of low class managers.

I have been threw multiple lay-offs on the planning side,

How did you decide who to lay off? Or did you not have say in that part?
