Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Its over!!

North Carolina here. Our store is closing. Vendors have been saying it for months and we didn't believe it. Sales weren't good but not that bad. Seems it don't matter because today the word was the whole company is winding down. The one's who didn't close this time are slated to be very soon. Sears and Kmart are going to be liquidated by the end of the year. Enjoy the last day's. Truth? I wonder.

@1crp are you delusional? SHOS majority owner Eddie drove them into bankruptcy too because the mother ship couldn't provide them with inventory because they alienated all the vendors and could supply the parts business. The bankruptcy was already a done deal until Eddie stepped in and fired all the board members who were going to do it.

Softlines and Kmart should have been gone a long time ago.

The way Transformco continues is via the Hometown Stores... that is how they can keep the tax credits going. I would expect the remaining Sears stores to get rid of all softlines - basically sell the same things hometown stores do just in a slightly bigger format. The remaining K-Mart stores are concentrated in California, (Northeast)NY/NJ/PA/MA/MD and the Island Stores. Obviously the Island Stores make money so someone will buy them and slap their name on them. California could be a play for Wesfarmers (entry into the US along with Guam?) - Maybe the relaunch of K-Mart? The Northeast should have some interest from someone... just not sure who.

Eddie Lampert's name is toxic. I wonder how many people bailed out of his ESL hedge fund business?

I heard more closings coming in October 2019

Our sears truck went from wed to Thursday now to Saturday

The store is like zombie land.. no customers at all

Out of stocks not coming in in the warranty tool area.. that’s very telling.. probably 50% oos tickets since 7/8/19 looks very bad but the same item that is oos in store can be ordered on-line

Very depressing!!

This is true! More Kmarts are going to be announced shortly. This will bring them liquidated after the holiday. Sears will close more store's but they will remain. Kmart brand is done.

Even the inventory flow seems to be sears biased.
