The stores without Fall and Halloween 🎃 merchandise by now, are likely to close soon, but when.? The Jamestown,New York, Kmart that just started closing looks like it hasn’t got merchandise for months.

The Pa Kmarts in the East that are in dire trouble are Walnutport, Easton and Wind Gap. They are very close to each other and 3 are not needed. Walnutport and Wind Gap seem to not have any competition and Easton has a Wal-Mart. Easton would be the choice of closing but depends on sales but maybe not. Wind Gap and Walnutport have top notch store's and managed much better. But what decides the closing of a store at this time nobody knows but one of these store's if not all are slated to liquidate. It is all rumor at this time but will become reality very soon.

Doesn't matter to the company how well or not they are doing, the end game is pretty clear. Which is a slow but steady closings of all of the stores.

The thing is, Kmart has always done well in paradise because they were the only “department store” in town. They would likely do even better with most completion gone.

The Kmarts in our area, eastern pa, are doing rather well. This statement about them closing is far from the truth.

What are the 2 eastern pa stores that are going to close?

@10HsSMji-1vpx – Sadly, I agree with you on all accounts.

@10HsSMji-1ajp No way will they do a damn thing with the store. If anything, the fire helps them justify them not to re-open the store in all honesty.

1mbt – As far as I know, the Paradise Kmart never re-opened after last fall's wildfire. It's scrubbed from Kmart's store finder, so unless something totally unexpected occurs and corporate miraculously decides to breathe life back into the store, it looks like that store is a goner.

So they are closing paradise? I didn’t realize it ever reopened after the fire nearly wiped the town off the map.

@emk All really good points. By no means am I suggesting the 192 number I have for Kmart is set in stone. Heck, with the way things have been going, I wouldn't be surprised if the number dropped lower a week from now. Eddie's definitely back to his old ways and demonstrating a consistent strategy – closing stores, one s-l-o-w, painful round after another.

There are more going to close this year yet. Stores whose sales are slipping and leases not being renewed. There are two in eastern Pa that are in the works of being liquidated. These are Kmarts that have fared well in the past and have no close competition. No store is safe and in all reality why keep them open and continue lying to the associates that all is well.

@yed - Please list the additional Kmart stores that have closed (beyond the 11 I mentioned as closed or in liquidation) on the go-forward document. It's really easy to make off-handed comments, but if you want your remarks to have any weight, you really need to be backing them up. I gave you the list and how I reached my methodology.

Did you think that original list was correct and you believed Eddie?
He lied to the press in February and said in total we had 425 stores between sears and Kmart when the real number was 415
In the office we wondered how he got the 425 number in the same way we wondered how there were 45,000 employees left that he was saving
And Kmart only started out with 200 stores not 203
With all the secret closings that have happened since then I seriously doubt there are 192 kmarts left
That is wishful thinking

There were 203 on the go-forward list, including the Brooklyn one that's in Sears. Since then, Transform has/is in the process of closing:

  1. Paradise CA
  2. Walla Walla WA
  3. Boca Raton FL
  4. Redlands CA
  5. Desert Hot Springs CA
  6. Palmer MA
  7. Jamestown NY
  8. Guyama PR
  9. Warsaw IN
  10. Farmingville NY
  11. Waupaca WI

203 - 11 = 192.

What am I missing, @siv?

The count is a lot less than 192
Started with 200 kmarts in feb
You think only 8 kmarts have closed since February?
