After last vote and chatter of NLRB allowing companies to canvass employees about willingness to remain in a Union I wonder where we’re headed? Equal pay for equal work? If so T-Rates RULE!! Try to get a D guy to break tradition and actually earn his pay-real world like.

Talk business please. No "brother" would pay for your family bills.
WELL PUT !! Seems "some" D guys can't acknowledge that at one time they were NOT the Legacy guys. Those who actually paid the price in striking-many times- for what we now enjoy are. We're now considered Legacy because of the D rate status. Does that make those who follow less part of the Union "Brotherhood"? Stop looking down on group that pays the same-or more proportionately-as us.They deserve to be represented the same as we all are. Shame on those self righteous ones who tarnish what should be a unifying purpose.
Previous generation to D-Rates: Remember that we fought hard and sacrificed a lot to make it better for you! Remember us when we're retired!
D-Rates to themselves: Remember those who are retired. They fought for us and we'll be retired one day to. Protect the pension fight for your pay increase and benefits!! Make it better for us!
D-Rates to next generation: The hell with you, we're going to make you T-Rates so you get paid less than us and screw you over because it's better for us!! Don't be a b–ch and whine about it. It's your fault you took the job after we ruined it!
@100Yrn9Y-3hja Exactly!!! Jobs created due to the way the “D” rates voted. The same people you continue to complain about? You can’t have it both ways. If your a “T” rate, you’ve taken a job with full knowledge of the pay and benefits that came with it, to now blame the “D” rates for your perceived unfair treatment is BS. Put on your big boy pants and go to work....
The only lazy D-Rates I saw were a few 2007/2008 hire machinists. For the most part, the D-Rates were far more competent and dedicated than the majority of my fellow T-Rates.
I was hired in 2014 and was made aware of the two tier wages at the SAM test. ST had a powerpoint slide that showed both wage scales, with a big red 'X' through the D-Rate scale. The situation was clearly explained with instructions to leave and cease attempts at employment with GE if the wage issue was unacceptable to us.
Anyone who believes they deserve $35+ per hour is free to seek that wage rate elsewhere.
Finally...doing sloppy work as you rush to achieve "minimum expectation" in 3-4 hours isn't helping anyone. Keep it up and you all will have unlimited "a– time" in the near future.
T-Rates created themselves?? You must have inhaled too much epoxy. The T rates took jobs that were authorized by the Union Agreement with the Company. All these guys are trying to do is earn their way but the “Legacy” atmosphere crucifies them. The union created this mess so let them fix it. Go back to your paint!
@100Yrn9Y-3tco & @100Yrn9Y-2jrk when you guys retire, it's go time. The door does swing both ways and what goes around comes around. Lots of luck feeding that line of garbage to us when we're the majority of how you fought for us all those years ago like the old retirees feed you now. Funny how the T-Rates have to be held to an agreement for life but you chuckle nut D-Rates demand a better contract all the time when you already have it better!! You all knew what you were voting for and now you want more. If you lead by example, you would have passed the last vote with a slam dunk! The Battery Plant was a failure that a majority voted for and we're the only ones who get held to an agreement. We didn't agree to the mistreatment for your enjoyment at our expense!
@100Yrn9Y- liir. The T rates actually created themselves. There isn’t one of them that took the job not knowing they would be working next to people making $10 an hour more doing the same work. If they hadn’t of taken those jobs, it’s likely the company would of had to do away with the two tier system. Don’t blame D rates for jobs you gladly accepted, the door you came in swings both ways. If you don’t like it, leave.
Someone who agrees with me? Most T guys work and don’t “cave” but they fear for the good paying jobs they have. Not all D guys rub noses in it but I’ve seen it and stuck up for those guys just trying to fit in to the concept of being a “Union Brother”. Too bad an Olive branch wasn’t extended years ago to make us all “Brothers”?
Well what sad is that t-rates work harder then most of us D-rates. You guys will be screwed if they shut the doors since most of us don't live within your means. Most D-rates are decent. 100Yrn9y-2jrk. Most of you don't have a degree. All the t-rates would like to see is $5 more an hour. You guys cave to ge when they gave you an ultimatum. Battery plant failed in the agreement so why not pay a t-rates for not fulfilling there agreement. I'm also a D-rates and feel bad they are getting screwed.
Getting real tired of hear t rates B–ch about something they agreed to when they got hired.....you didn’t lose anything... if you were working here and lost ten an hour I could understand but you said yes it’s ok when you got hired....
@100Yrn9Y-1rlk How do you figure the D rates have more to lose than the T rates? The lowest service D rate has more seniority than any T rate, so the only thing the D rates have to lose is having to hear all the T rates complaining about something they asked for. On the other hand the only thing the T rates have to lose is there jobs, so you decide. And just so you know, not everyone voted for that BS battery plant deal.
@100Yrn9Y-1iir if it were the other way around, you'd be b–ching just like everyone else. Probably even b–ching the most. Don't even pretend that you'd be above it all. The D-rates voted to screw over everybody after they got theirs and created the T-Rates. They all could have stood United as One and said no, but you didn't did they!?!? They cared only about themselves and not those coming in behind them. So this is what they voted for. A bunch of people that have become sick and tired of the inequality that goes on constantly. It was by design as you stated. Too bad none of the D-Rates had the brains to realize that when they voted. Here's a news flash for all of the D-Rates, since you all voted to screw us from the start, we have a lot less to lose than you all do!!
NOT for dissolving Union but how do you bring both pay scales together on same page after the treatment the lower scale guys- which they ALL agreed to- expect them to stand for those who ridicule both their intelligence and their abilities? Just saying from one who’s been around too long.
The guys talking about dissolving the union, two tier pay bickering etc...are doing exactly what the company wants: divide and conquer. The rate doesn't make the person. Both rates have good hard working people, and both have lazy bums. And they both are able to take a job elsewhere if they want. As previously stated, when you were hired, you were told exactly what you'd be earning, if there is a better offer elsewhere take it, if not, be thankful for having a good paying job whether whatever your patscale is.
Sure, once we were united in demanding a fair days wage for a fair days work. Now we'd rather sit on our buts and complain about sticking it to the Man.
It’s sad watching you guys fight over pay scales. How about you just do your jobs and collectively bargain together. If you accepted a pay scale at time of hire move on and focus on items that are negotiated like wage increases (on current rate), health care, retirement, and contract language. You guys bagging each other because of pay scales is old. It’s not like the guy who was hired on the D scale is lazy because of how much he earns, it’s because of the lazy culture that has existed for years. I want to see Schenectady remain open, but it won’t if you keep up the nonsense about T and D. How about you stand together as employees. Work 8 hours a day and show your value. GE has treated you like garbage because of the output. Know one will go to bat for people who work a half shift. #workingslate
Well put. While many D guys are considerate there are too many that degrade the T guys just trying to make a living. Bad enough the wage/pension stuff but to rub noses in it goes too far.
