Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum’s Acquisition of Landmark Health

Was this a seek and destroy effort? Maybe the intention was never success and growth into home based medical but to take out the company with the greatest reach and destroy it? The new reorganization is doomed. Decision makers have no clue how the teams they obliterated functioned. The reconfiguration of pods to zones may appear reasonable in a PPT but is not practical to implement due to EMR barriers. Also they didn’t factor the value of people performing the work (believing all people are replaceable). Now seasoned market talent are fleeing in mass. Sad.

We got an email that HSM’s are the only ones who can change the PCP info in ubiquity. Why would they turn around and cut the only ones who have access? Who in the world is making decisions at this company??

As Oct 18th is nearing, any word out there who/what/where will be eliminated in what is to be expected to be the next 3 mth lay-off stint? We haven't heard a word, have had several incentives taken away & I'm watching my bottom line shrink. Doesn't make a lick of sense & wondering what you are thinking...

Does anyone know if they plan to downsize APPs? Or close certain states such as Texas or Tennessee?

Optum has gutted Land Mark. Now the word is July 18th is another layoff. I’m out regardless but I feel for the patients. Word is BCBS High Mark signed with another provider and is done 2025. What was a geriatric population is no longer. BHCM/SW is down many who left seeing writing in the wall. Optum senior Management has laid off Doctors, ambassadors, leadership teams. Took all their PTO away refusing to pay it out and gave 2 week severance. More are leaving by the day. Thing is it’s what they must want. Optum is doing nothing to stop the bleeding. I can say the Landmark people I worked with and will be leaving are the most dedicated in my long career.

For those that keep predicting July 18th with term date of August 1. That date is a payday week & does not align with previous RIF dates. Notifications are made on Thursdays of non pay weeks. I expect July 11 notifications with last day being two weeks later.

IMHO, I think it's been witty's plan - all along - to destroy uhg. Everything he acquires turns into a failure!

Optum will just keep buying stuff then laying off
Housecalls, landmark, SCC, Navi, optum RX, optum at home, OptumCare — expect them to all “merge” and “streamline”

And goodbye 30-40% of jobs

Blame Andrew Witty, Kristy Duffy, and all the other VPs

Landmark did not see patients in offices. Where did you get that from!??

Just out of curiosity which one do you consider great and which one cr-ppy?!

Oh yes, Landmark, I live in the OC and watched that perception, long story on that, they put out the projection there were an army of MDs on wheels, they mostly saw patients in the office and made an occasional housecall, it was all an effort to get the PE Founder Adam Boehler in the CMS Innovation position, to create CMS payment models that benefited PE. If you follow me on Twitter (@Medicalquack) you can learn a lot..I've followed the company sincine 2008 and wrote about acquisition after acquistion and how it would work, been on target as I used to be a programmer and had data mechanics insight that the average person doesn't have, and yes UNH hates me:)

Our CHA manager took another position with UHG and they don't seem too inclined to backfill it. Personally, I think CHA managers, CHA, SW Manager will be let go. I can't make heads or tails of what they're doing with SW and BH. It seems they know they need SW but they don't want a Lot of them. BHC's they'll probably have cover nationwide like the pharmacists. BHCM's they want to leave and not backfill, but they don't seem top priority to cut SW/BH....yet. My thoughts are they will roll the new roles out in May, see how it goes in June and what doesn't work will be gone in July....

Legacy Prospero here and it's just sad what has happened to both LM and Prospero. Truly believed in the Prospero mission and transition to LM ways wasn't the easiest and then settled in and now this.

Who else besides CHA do we expect July 18th?

The CHAs are not safe. They will pare down the number of CHAs across all markets and get rid of the CHA managers. Occurs on July 18 so people have a head start to start looking.

Do you think the whole outreach department will be let go or just the CHA managers? I kind of think the cha’s are safe as long as theirs not a lot of them in the same market. It seems like there’s no use for cha managers.

It is sad what has happened to what was a great company with really good employees. Optum totally sc--wed everything up. I was proud to work for Landmark. Now I would never admit to working there.

Back when I joined Landmark, I had an offer on the table also to join Humana. The Landmark offer looked more lucrative due to more pay and then eventually the UHG/Optum acquisition making it part of the largest healthcare company. RIF in February and so wish I had went with Humana now. I learned the hard way that Optum will gut every company they acquire and it doesn’t matter how well your performance is, you do not matter to them.

Optum acquired a cr-ppy run company, and a great company and smushed them together to make something good… unfortunately, the bad overtook the good and nobody bothered to care.

Ruined the whole pie
