The rise and decline of Intel

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger inherited a troubled company that had lost its edge in manufacturing skills and had ceded to rivals the hugely lucrative markets for chips used in mobile phones and artificial intelligence.

Moores law also just ended... it is a technology win, but there's no more road left.

Re BK … maybe it wasn’t only about fu__ing his admin? Let’s also not forget Specter / Meltdown on top of the EUV stuff. Oh and Murthy’s empire building and leading mist of the company. WTF did BK do as CEO during that time?

Thanks for sharing. I'm always a bit nostalgic about Intel. I wonder which blunder was the worst: PSO and Apple; BK's leadership and decision on UVL; or BS' decision on not investing in Open AI? I know there have been MANY other mistakes and blunders, but these 3 are mentioned in the article. I somehow believe Intel would have caught up on manufacturing if BK as CEO never would have happened... When the history books and case studies are written, I wonder what PG's largest blunder will be? Not splitting up Intel sooner; sticking with the foundry model, or just poor leadership... GLTA.

@zuk it should say “the board forced him out on a technicality after his manic spending sprees and stupid ideas were too much to ignore”

"2018 - Krzanich steps down amid mounting manufacturing setbacks."

LOL Yeah, that's why he stepped down.

It is a good article of reflection but Pat did nothing to reverse but to accelerate the downtrend.
