Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Cleaning House

Regrettably, a lot hybrids were exactly the ones they don't want on the payroll.
That is, those who bent the knee had to due to lack of alternatives. They generally lacked confidence in themselves. A more geriatric crowd.

Those who opted remote gave them a big middle finger. That population was generally more confident in their abilities to find another job. It is egg on Dell exec's faces.

So here by design incomes a squeeze on hybrids. A lashing out.

Remotes raise your glasses, today WE CELEBRATE!

Anyone that shows up at office now matter how terrible will keep their job. All the good remote IT people will be gone. Dell really can't afford to lose anymore decent IT folks at this point. Maybe they will just cherry pick who they want the rules to apply to - since that's what they did with all the job promotions when the last RTO rulings came out. It only applies to who they wanted it to apply to. It's just a way to get rid of folks.

"Everyone I know that has been laid off in August and September (and there's been quite a few) had been remote."

someone had the numbers posted here yesterday. The wfr sampling matched the population size. Meaning it was pretty much down the middle remotes vs hybrid wfrs.

Anyone who thinks dell is a long game is a fool. You chose wisely staying remote but don't think there is a win for you at Dell.

The hybrids we led into the abattoir for sla-ghter.

How can a company be so shortsighted and the past they always said we can't hire only local talent. There are too many smart people around the world now they can only hire locally.

All the remote people should be waiting for severance packages. Start your interviewing now.

Everyone I know that has been laid off in August and September (and there's been quite a few) had been remote. I feel today's announcement is just the first move, from one org, of what will likely be many other shoes to drop. I still think this is an overall push to significantly reduce headcount, and we are all scr*wed, regardless if we are hybrid or remote.

I'm remote and I'm not raising any glass. Our time will soon come. I feel like I'm in a d-mb game of chicken with Dell at this point, who will swerve first...

True. But most remotes are not at Dell for the long game. Our day will come as well. However, hybrids get the horns with no lube immediately.

And, at the end of the day, us remotes still have our dignity left. We did not bend the knee and lick the boots.

sorry not sorry

I’m remote, was hired in a state without any offices. I’ll make them fire me but I can see the writing on the wall. No way I’d quit. That’s too easy.

Uh… they are going to be even worse to you. They are going to make you relocate, or you’re done. That said it will but you a little time if you’re outside the 50 mile zone, but come Q1. Your a-s is just as grass
