No, I was not free to leave at anytime. Only a year ago I was given a nice lump sum and bunch of stocks as retention bonus so I WOULD NOT LEAVE! Had I resigned within 3 years I had to pay back GF the retention bonus! But thanks to my psycho imbecile manager I was laid off because despite my excellent contribution resulting in real revenue for GF , I lacked that GF mandatory skill of boot licking!!
True, but there is far more freedom when GF pays you for 7 months. 😉

Same here. After two years of he-l at GF I’m finally free , happy and relaxed. Don’t have to deal with the toxicity harassment and that psycho manager. And before I forget, three interviews lined up first thing in new year. Life is sweet.
