Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Official Log of VSP Offer Acceptance

I thought it would helpful if we have a single place for people to post their offer feedback along with their years of service. Maybe we can start mapping out how generous (or not) management is being with the offers they accept and deny.

Include:
Months requested,
Accepted or denied ,
Years of service ,
LOXY or LAPC

Ok, I’ve heard conflicting options. If my offer is accepted, how long will Oxy pay my insurance?

Are you all joking with some of those offers. They can’t possibly approach the payout of the VSP last year. Otherwise there is something wrong!

The way I look at it anything under a year for people 0-10 years is a no take on the employee part. You probably will not finds a job in that amount of time. Might as well keep the medical and benefits. After the first two months of insurance months 3-12 for a family is going to run you about 15K, and that is just for the insurance.

Did they inform you by email? How long did it take before you got an answer?

On the other hand, I expect a premium over the normal layoff policy for volunteering, since I’m being asked to sacrifice unemployment benefits. Otherwise I would just wait to be laid off involuntarily. I wouldn’t expect to get 2+ months per year of service, but I should get at least as much as those who were let go in January. It would be unfair to get less than those who were laid off involuntarily earlier this year, who also qualify for unemployment.

It will be interesting guys and thanks for sharing. I think they will all be turned down. Sorry for the negative comment. You would all be lucky to get a year from Oxy. I think in there head they might be thinking 4 months for 5 years, 6 months for 5-10 years. I do hope you get it. LAPC might stand a chance if they are lower than the actual package they are covered with now. But I would think much lower.

L-Oxy VSP last year was based on 1 1/2 months per year of service. L-Oxy layoffs in January were based on 1 month per year of service and 2 months notice. If they are not doing another round of enforced layoffs yet and want volunteers I would imagine they would be looking for less than one month per year, otherwise why not just lay people off!

There is a master thread started on the lay-off Anadarko page for LAPC to discuss ideas on how many months to offer. There isn’t as much off topic discussion over there. Go there to discuss potential offers and we can reply here when they are accepted or denied.
