Why does it seem to me that after the last great layoffs, those who survived would prefer that they were cut as well?
My opinion is that it is worse here now for those who survive layoffs than for those who are cut. Everyone who got cut is now in much better company than Ascension and everyone is more relaxed than us who are in constant burnout.
I personally got hit by the November layoffs but had something lined up and was technically only unemployed for a week when HCL inevitably denied 90% of the network folks. I actually enjoyed working in the environment and the people (minus the senior leadership) and would consider going back when the pendulum swings the other way (provided the current senior leadership is gone.) For the moment anyway I landed a job at an organization outside of the healthcare space, less engaging but I got a pay bump and I feel valued/respected by the organization. Getting laid off was actually great for my unique circumstances.
I am glad I was cut and am out of the chaos and uncertainty of the life at Ascension or a partner organization supporting Ascension. While the future is uncertain I am not stressed and being pulled in many directions at the same time. Not to mention leadership using prayer and reflection to mask the decisions based on greed which I always found to be disgusting to my personal values.
Life will get better and eventually I will find something and once again experience a more ethical brand of leadership in a stable organization like I know from the past.
@znu+1el7w7mh - This exactly! I've been gone from AT for quite a while now and I haven't gotten one interview so I have basically been forced into early retirement. I have hope that something will turn up in the coming year...
I agree, except that not EVERYONE has found a new position yet and are still looking. Or they chose early retirement when they weren't planning on it. BUT yes in my case, my new position not only pays better but it's a much more trustworthy company with a better vision and leadership. From what I gather from my friends still left there, it's a cluster-F and I'm really glad I'm not there to have to deal with it.
