Who else was laid off without HR on the line? I was shocked when my supervisor started reading a script to me and there was no one else on the call. Shouldn’t at least a third-party be included?

No HR, but not uncommon as pointed out in other posts
FACT - HR will be on the call only if your manager asks for it, meaning that he foresees an issue with your reaction or legal standing of the process
No HR on my call, just a follow up email with all the details. Made for a MUCH better call with my manager.
No HR either.
@zne+1tSqRPY8, I had HR. No exit interview anyway.
So they outsourced HR to Bane Capital over a year ago.. sooooooo
read a new story that said HR was cut so much they didnt have enough people to do the other call.. seems to be correct.
"One employee alleged on the forum that Dell's Human Resources (HR) was too swamped to even make to every employee termination and that "there are only so many HR reps to go around.""

Maybe HR could be culled?
I was cut too without HR on the line. Seemed very inappropriate to be having that talk with just my boss.
Same here. No hr no exit interview. They want to get rid of you as fast as possible with no questions asked.
To the troll in the comments: lay off protocol usually calls for a 3rd party to witness the convo. Hr is usually the appropriate person to direct your questions to.
I was cut and there was an HR rep on the call. I'm guessing that some calls were without HR due to the sheer number of calls that had to be held.
No HR, no exit interview, just stern emails about severance.
Why does it matter? Do you hav a bad relationship with your Manager?
Not enough HR people. But agree.
