I am really upset by the su----e that happened at the Dell Round Rock 5 office on Friday, and Dell's lackluster response has only solidified my feeling that their employees are nothing but numbers, or cogs in their machine. The message showed no remorse, and clarity that this was due to WFR, and with the recent mandates to return to office how are we supposed to feel safe. They should've given employees on site therapy and a day off. They don't care about us, and we are supposed to keep acting like this is the greatest place to work

Australia not much different and I'd say it's worse here because we are a high cost site in a predominantly low cost region (excl JPN). Where metrics are all that matters.
ALL teams here are operating with an average 70% of the staff required. That's based on the company forecast and not my opinion.
Most sales follks lost their jobs and many in ISG services are almost burnt out.
Agree with most comments here, especially TD. I can tell you that we all go through the motions year in year out but it's all BS.
I feel I've ranted long enough but in case anyone cares I would like to suggest a few things Michael & his team of vampires.
Invest in your employees and stop thinking short term. I guarantee there will be trouble when most people around the globe eventually lose their purpose and find themselves 'training AI' or similar.
At least TRY to do SOME of the feel good propaganda that that poisons my inbox daily. Help leaders help their staff. Stop spending so much time on metrics and reporting for the sake of doing so. LISTEN to your managers and do what MATTERS then let us grow the business.
BTW since Dell has dramatically reduced any services in the buildings along with security, there was nothing preventing that guy to go into the building with that we-pon to shoot up the place. Great story for RTO.
I agree - unionize. The work environment is brutal was bad during Covid and even worse now.
@1not+1p7pIaF8 been in ISG for years. This has literally never happened on any teams I've been a part of. 99% of the time, my leadership has barely even mentioned Tell Dell. My director didn't even review TD with the teams this year. They don't care because they know it means nothing
What’s sad that this incident was not communicated with Dell employees outside of Austin. A contact of mine that is outside or TX had not been made aware of what happened.
Amazingly, if you search about this event it’s not showing up in many of the local news outlets.
Take control of your situation. I did, after 12 years with Dell, I left. the work-life imbalance was the primary reason for my departure.
"Tell Dell should ask the right questions about self worth and if you are afraid to open mails from your managers!"
There are senior leaders OPENLY telling their teams that in Tell Dell nothing but a 9 or 10 score will do. This is a directive. From experience it is largely happening in the ISG orgs and symptomatic of that leadership. Teams are coached pre TD, expectations are set, and if the goal isn't achieved there is an implied threat of career impact.
The integrity of TD has been lost to the winds years ago, it is largely pointless in addressing problematic team cultures.
Just left Dell in Massachusetts, not from a WFR, my own choice, totally the time to get out, I was in Marketing but have friends all over the company in other departments and locations. If you're still there and think it's going to change for the better, you're wrong. You'll get fewer resources, less budget, less time and be asked to do more next year, just turn the crank. Marketing leadership (Sam G) cannot explain what "GenAI" is or how it differs from AI or ML, but "Dell is a leader in it" LOL. You sell hardware! To anyone left, get out while you can!
This is what happens when you have white trash like Jeff C perpetuating a ultra toxic work culture of bullying and belittling employees. Tell Dell should ask the right questions about self worth and if you are afraid to open mails from your managers!
I am really not sure if the top at any of these big companies actually care about their employees. The number of cost management exercise I have been involved in across different orgs we are just numbers on spreadsheet and a graph on PowerPoint slides.
Until the top starts actually caring about employees, this will sadly continue.
It is insane when you look on LinkedIn and see all the positive BS stories about what a great place to work Dell is and how they care about employees. All the posts from upper management with likes from everyone below. Dell is a large corporation, they are driven by the bottom line and profits, I know I'm concerned about my job, lie on Tell Dell and on LinkedIn. In reality, employee satisfaction is in the toilet, not sure how it can be fixed
@zix+1p7pIaF8 there is no plan, just on grieving employee lamenting that their company doesn't prioritize their safety or mental health
You cant blame his manager.
Staff cuts come from way above that.
I have actually heard a manager try help and keep a staff member after cuts but the member was happy to leave.
This was in recent weeks.
What is your plan and objective in all this? Have some decency and humanity.
Time to unionize. Let’s get started. https://www.worker.gov/form-a-union/
@fla+1p7pIaF8 Please do not speculate on the person's manager. The former manager of the deceased is a good person and was one of the kindest, most fair manager I worked with during my time at Dell.
Dell can show the survey results of "Tell Dell" and claim that his manager was very good and a "rockstar" manager.
Fairly disgusting. Especially forcing RTO.
Why not lay people off from home.
holy sh%$ this is insane.... i work in draper and just heard about this from a team mate in roundrock.. im so sorry you guys had this happen.. i think its time we start a real union.. dell keeps treating us all like numbers and not people..
just numbers on a spreadsheet.....
Correct. Dell doesn't even pretend to care about their employees.
They really just see you as an expense and are always looking for ways to nickel and dime employees.
