I don’t understand how the media isn’t involved and there isn’t more on social. Am I missing it?

Anyone who is fully aware of what’s happening It’s likely not going to be on the list for the layoffs. Those people are going to want to keep their jobs and won’t risk it by going to the media.
Anyone who is going to be laid off likely is not fully aware of what’s happening. The media won’t be taking what those people say and running a story about it because they’re unreliable sources.
And as others have pointed out, layoffs are happening in most of our competitors and dozens of other industries as well. It’s just not newsworthy.
"We're just another Meh! company. Neither a pioneer nor a trail blazer or trend setter type."
Ancient technology with zero investment or leadership to be a leader. This used to be a career destination company but leadership has destroyed that. For those losing their jobs, at least you are not losing and awesome, creative, modern position. This is now a place you end up at until something better comes along.
We're just another Meh! company. Neither a pioneer nor a trail blazer or trend setter type. I mean ... have you looked at our CEO or President? LOL!! Not the news worthy type.
Deep pocketed investors own the media. They decide the what, where and when of news being disseminated. This could be layoffs, world conflicts or wherever else these people have a vested interest.
As I have said before the WARN act doesn’t apply unless people are all dismissed at the same site. No one cares if it’s a few dozen people at a few dozen sites. This has been the case for decades now, at most businesses. Companies are pulling their staff from small towns and cities and rural areas into the larger cities because they can better handle the churn of employees fed into the grinder. This will continue no matter who you vote for so it’s not a political thing.
Media is more interested in small to medium business and manufacturing layoffs or closings. These are more relatable to your average person. Maybe not big finance or tech but just as devastating to those involved.
Because this is happening at most large companies. We are not unique. Job security doesn't exist anywhere....it's up to us to plan for the unexpected.
Layoffs? Unless there is a mass layoff announced by big finance or big tech no one cares and no one has cared for years.
