Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Insurance has gone to pot

Keep getting letter after letter telling me insurance o longer covers this and that, have to book scan though 3 rd party, meds going up , some no longer covered. Just got letter saying all our Memorial Herman facilities and doctors are in jeopardy. Exxon changed to one provider, no more choice, went up on premium, try to keep you from going to any emergency room by making you pay 10-20 percent of the entire bill, and then tailored a cheap coverage plan that only help the company... after almost 30 yrs , this is about as low as I seen from the company, Billions in profit and it saves money by cutting from its employees, the new norm..... can't wait GTFO..... I'm embarrassed to even say I work here anymore. Don't come to work for this place, it will su-k the soul out of you and you will be miserable.

@ze Must be location dependent. Ours is about $20 more per month than that.

The change in the imaging process with the One Imaging middle man is easily the worst healthcare benefit deterioration I’ve seen in my 20 years here

@pg why don’t you just get an Affordable Care Act plan? If you’re managing your income sources properly you likely won’t much and last I checked they have Blue Cross plans, could be worse than EM plan and definitely cheaper.

I retired and thought I would have it easy. NOT. The premiums went up and I am under 65 so I have to use a non government insurance. I am subject to the same sheet as the current exxon employees except that i have to pay lots more. I am paying 1200 a month for me and my wife. I am seriously thinking of getting a job with better insurance because exxon's retirement insurance su ks. If I knew that the insurance would have su-kjed so bad I would have left sooner and gotten a new job.

@dg - they aren’t, but you are undoubtedly a stench-ridden bit of offal. The OI website is garbage, and the reps are useless. It’s quite difficult to acquire any useful info from that company.

Just one more shameful choice EM has made to the detriment of their (admittedly temporary) employees.

The only advantage is that “sticking around for the retiree health care” is no longer worth it so I’m getting out (quitting) even earlier than previously planned.

You would have thought HR would have automatically enrolled us in the now mandatory imaging plan like all the other plans we select during open enrollment, but no, each and everyone has to figure it out separately with that sham of a provider. I wonder if DW has to go through this BS for an MRI. Shameful how far we have fallen.

I couldn't even figure out which places do the imaging with the new plan.

@OP You also left out the part where this job sends you to the ER and doctors far more often than anyone realizes.
