*** Massive Layoffs at TCS in 2024 ***

* Urgent Update * TCS is currently undergoing significant restructuring, which unfortunately includes massive layoffs in 2024. This is a stark reminder of the volatile nature of the IT industry and the unpredictable challenges we all face. It's my duty to share this news with the TCS community, not only to keep you informed but also to shed light on the harsh realities many are facing in today's economic climate. To those directly affected, I extend my deepest sympathies and support. I was laid off this week, without notice.

Plan now for your next job... especially if you're on the bench and have been on the bench for longer than 1-2 weeks. EVERYONE on the bench is at risk !!!

@1cc1 ... I'm really sorry to hear. I keep trying to warn people even to this very day and it's been over 1 year and a half and I'm still warning people about TCS. I'll warn people as long as I can. I wish you all the very best.

I also got laid off on Dec 2024 after 2 weeks on bench. During that 2 weeks period I didn’t get any calls from other projects. I worked in TCS with low salary for 8 years by assuming job is safe in TCS. But I was wrong. TCS management will be very rude during the layoff and that will hurt you more. Very unprofessional and there is very much discrimination specially if you are US citizen and GC. Talent , commitment and hard work means nothing in TCS. All they look for chamchagri.

True. I know few of my close friends.they planned for 50k this time. In 2014 they laid off around 25 K. History repeats itself.

Yes TCS has been very annoying and frustrating on layoffs. They terminated me without any notice, and without reason, despite my all performance was good, they laid off saying today is last day??? Could someone file lawsuits for this kind of nonsense. After 13 years of service, termination without any notice is very bad and mental harassment.

Three questions:

  1. For those who received the severance package, was the amount paid with a separate check or along with the final check ( which includes unused vacation days)?
  1. I am not sure if TCS pays severance if they are paying for unused vacation days. Anybody got paid for both unused vacation days and also a severance package?
  1. For those who got severance, how much was it (Total weeks pay In terms of the number of years you worked with TCS)?

Looks like some people started a lawsuit with TCS for unlawful termination. Just search up "TCS layoffs: Over 20 employees in US cry foul, file complaint against firm"

In an email response to the WSJ report and on the discrimination and layoffs, TCS in a statement said: “Allegations that TCS engages in unlawful discrimination are meritless and misleading. TCS has a strong track record of being an equal opportunity employer in the U.S., imbibing the highest levels of integrity and values in our operations.”
A source in the know confirmed to Business Standard that around 22-30 employees have been laid off, who were part of the bottom of the performance list and many of these were contractual employees. This could not be independently verified at the time of writing the report.

Yes, the severance payment seems to be inconsistent. Looks like they paid to some and not paid to others. Question: For those who got severance pay, was it paid with a final paycheck (which includes payment for any unused vacation) or was it paid afterwards?

@zdjr+1rdwNXeU

seems inconsistent, some people said they got no severence, some got it. Not sure if people are confusing it with their vacation hours. The layoffs seem very informal, no paperwork or anything. you just get cut off from ultimatix/email after a phone call

How much severance (in terms of weeks' pay) be given for every year of work done with TCS in the US? When it will be paid? In one of the posts above it was mentioned 4 weeks pay for 7 years. Is it roughly 1 week for 2 years?

I was let go back in December 2023. My advice to anyone on TCS right now, especially if you are on the bench, is to update your resume and start apply for jobs. You won't know when you are going to get that phone call HR.
