Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What lay-off percentage do you think they’ll announce?

Up vote the percentage of the total US headcount that you think is most likely to get laid off.

Cuts will be 60% of campus, 20% of salaried folks in the operating units. Remaining campus folks will be made available for the plants nights and weekends replacing the employees who were laid off.

Percentages laid off will vary by skill set. What I heard in the forum is they are looking at planned work for next few years and figuring out how many people with what skills they need. Once they have that defined they will populate the org chart. Anyone without a spot on the new org chart will be fired.

no layoff percent will be announced ...just check the F&O in March 2021 to see how many employees are left. Better to not a noounce and be flexible on the who to cut especially if there is a voluntary or retirement piece that is uncertain. Then let's watch which group of NSI and NI go.

You do realize that this company is more than just chemicals yeah? Typical exxon response from a person that sits in their own little silo.

Not based on what I’ve seen, especially in chemicals. US sites make absurd amounts of money only for Singapore to absorb most of it in losses. Europe is then maybe slightly profitable to a big loss depending on the quarter.

So have many American sites. What's your point?

Can't compare to regions. Most European and AP sites have been losing money for years.

Looks like people mainly believe ~20%. Likely because of the cuts in Europe. Fun fact, Europe operates very lean versus the US. The US is very fat and also much more expensive than their European counterparts. I'm expecting US to be gutted. 30+% across all functions.

Expect divestment announcement for some assets and some 5-10% downsizing on campus. Affected functions to be informed in smaller setting. Process will last several weeks.

It’s either 25% or 17% (25-8) depending how the number floating around is interpreted to include the initial wave or not
