Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Stop the rumors

45 hour work weeks are illegal in most states. Even for exempt employees. Everyone knows that. Unless you can provide proof just stop. This might be for your org but not the whole company.

It is NOT a rumor, email went out Wednesday before Thanksgiving. And those 9 hours do NOT include lunch, that's 9 productive hours they expect, in office. Grade 11 and above, but fully expect that to be extended downward to all salaried employees in the near future. And to non-exempt employees if Project 2025 follows through with overtime being calculated on a monthly (rather than weekly) basis with the new administration.

It has been made clear in previous communications that badge swipes are heavily monitored, and any absence from office must be approved ahead of time, with emergencies requiring notice as soon as physically possible. Sapience has been significantly customized for Fiserv in the past year, likely anticipating advanced monitoring, Workday updates are also incoming according to the email.

Keep in mind many relocated employees are still under the time period where they must repay relocation costs if they leave, so many are trapped. And many of the locations are not friendly toward job searches in the field. Also seasonal layoffs were barely over a week ago, to keep the fear fresh. None of this is a coincidence.

I just updated my LinkedIn to open for opportunities and I'm going to start entertaining EVERY COMPANY who wants to pursue my talent! I used to turn other companies away like a fully committed wife or bride to be, but now I'm looking for the first good looking job offer that comes my way! I'm leaving this narcissistic, ego maniac ASAP, enough is enough...no more abuse!

So to ensure a 40 hr work week, is to a) don't be a manager and b) don't be grade 11 or above.

Got it.

The email we received was the most poorly written mess of a memo which was mumble jumble….and I’m certain our communications people assisted which makes it worse!

"As reiterating the other comments on this thread. The expectation for me as a people manager is Monday-Friday in the office, 9 hours per day. "

What about non-managers?

Hate to tell you this but rumors are true. This is coming from middle manager in GBS (no need to name names if you're in this business unit).

For all North American associates pay grade 11 and above will be mandatory 9 hr days (45 hrs) for exempt employees.

Grade 10 and below is 8 hrs a day for exempt employees.

These hours do not include lunch or smoke breaks (also to be outlined).

According to what I heard, attendence is being tracked by badge swipes, not Sapience. Workday to be adjusted to account for those who work on the road or are sick but need to work from home.

Codes in workday to be added in a couple weeks.

People managers must be in office 5 days a week starting December 2nd.

All this is to be delivered in writing this week or after the holiday. Now we're all paying directly for our time to fill in gaps from endless rounds of layoffs.

I anticipate that more draconian cr-p is in the pipeline by Christmas.

It’s not illegal. It’s 8 hours of work, plus an hour for lunch, 5 days a week. That’s your 45 hours.

I retract my statement and apologize for my hostility. I know we are all a nurse stress. Just got my mandatory meeting for five minutes from now.

It starts Monday and isn’t a rumor. Wish I could’ve been RIF’d. I’ll be submitting my two weeks. Thankfully it lined up that I just got a job offer right as this was being announced this afternoon.
