Techs are not considered "support" only COE. Once again, techs are not considered "craft" position so they cannot be support, hence, any mo--n can do the job. If you're a tech are you really support? You're only a knuckle dragger. PUC don't give a rip! Frontier/Verizon will be the hammer, and you, will be the nail. Keep believing the narrative that is in your mind.

Hahahaha. I’ve worked at this company for 28 years. In my experience. Overall outside techs have a higher education level than most of the managers. I’m talking more than first level. Director and executive. Sit in office reading emails and looking at reports your underlings provided for you. Everyone in management is looking to protect their jobs. When referring to anyone CAN do what they call management at this company. You are spot on. Any mo--n can do it. You want to work in the OSP and be effective. There are few management if any left anymore that could even pretend to know what is done outside. Verizon will be a refreshing change to get back management that actually knows the job. I’m looking forward to the FTR management flush which always happens when one company takes over another. Especially with the level of incompetence ingrained in this place.

Like I said point A to Point B. Fiber, light from Point A to Point B. Copper dial tone. The 15k difference you stated were mostly people that can be replaced by an 800 number. What can a Tech do that a contractor can't do? The position is no longer considered a "craft" position a term the Union gave in to the company. While the union are chanting cliches and pretend they care, the company is playing chess and eliminating jobs.

It’s funny when people ramble on about things they have no clue about. Do you know why the techs in California haven’t been and can’t be replaced. The PUC won’t allow it. They don’t consider contractors “employees” and therefore don’t meet the PUC standard for required staffing to support the network. It’s not difficult to be informed. Well maybe for some it is.

Your bargaining committee will give away anything the company wants to take. Union leaders that are on the bargaining committee absolutely have it made at work. They show up and do anything they want and management looks the other way. Local union presidents get to move to any job openings that they want. Union leaders on the local level are told by the company “ don’t bother us with grievances and we won’t bother you”. Anytime members ask the union about contract violations the union says “ it’s their company to manage or mismanage they can do whatever they want”.

Field workers are not safe as you say they are. Frontier/Verizon deemed outside plant as point A to Point B product. They find placing fiber/copper, underground or aerial as grunt work that anyone can do. Techs are also disposable 3-5 jobs a day? Anybody can do that with their eyes closed. No one is safe.

Wishful thinking. Wait and see how it pans out. Theres a reason we went from 28k people when ftr took us over to only 13k. The majority of ALL the OSP is still here. Can’t say that about call centers, clerks, management etc. if you don’t think it was strategic allowing people to work from home. Youre fooling yourself.

The close of a sale with Verizon will finally see these do nothing call center union hacks packing their bags. Part of the reason Verizon sold us in the first place was the dead weight in California.
It will also be the end of incompetent management that came from cable companies and cell companies.
This is going to be a fun year.

Only people safe are the field. Call center people will get cut more till they are gone. But then again the union is completely worthless and need to be busted completely out of the company. Only way Frontier will be truly successful is to get rid of the lazy union bleeding money out of the company

Don't know about the call center people but all of the other statements are true. When the time arrives to fight for the union members, all they do is pretend to care by picketing and shouting stupid slogans, " profit of our backs", "corporate greed" etc., but when the company declared for bankruptcy, fellow coworkers started to call union reps and all they got was, only a tech knows this, RNA.

Here’s how it will go. The union will pretend to be fighting for labor. Meanwhile they will just be busy making sure they secure their positions as the Sam do nothings they’ve been since we’ve become frontier. They will have us to walk out for 4 hours so it appears we are showing the company. All the while they will already know what the company is willing to give us. More importantly give them. Likely, the ladies that run the union that are call center people and expendable will see to their best interests. While they try and manipulate outside plant by telling them the company wants to get rid of them. Some of the lesser intelligent outside plant people will fall for it and negotiate away more of their benefits so the call center folks can keep their jobs. You know. Same as last time.
