Broadcom’s “New” Plan for VMware

https://www.crn.com/news/cloud/hock-tan-broadcom-s-new-plan-for-vmware-as-krause-departs

“The initial plan was to have VMware’s employees and technology portfolio become part of Broadcom’s Software Group under Krause’s leadership following the closure of its $61 billion acquisition of VMware.

With Krause’s departure, CEO Tan now says that VMware will become part of Broadcom’s existing Infrastructure and Security Software Solutions Group.

“Following the closing of the transaction, the Broadcom Software Group will rebrand and operate our existing infrastructure and security software solutions as VMware. I’m confident that our team will continue to drive Broadcom Software Group’s strategy into the future, including with respect to combining our two companies,” said Tan.”

This is confusing me. With Krause it was vmware employees + tech portfolio as Broadcom Software Group
With Krause gone it is now Broadcom Software Group, their existing infrastructure, security solutions, and employees as vmware.
How is this actually different??? I’m missing something.

@1qxq+1hGCRGEz. BroadCon guy here. you're a mo--n. you know zero as to how our division operates. BSG is a GTM shell with divisons below driving their OWN product and platform strategy. so fu-k off. or we'll make sure you're first to get you a-s cut.

Seriously? The person that posted this:

Surely Tom has been exited to make way for Sumit at the helm? With this latest development I’m now envisaging a ‘business as usual’ scenario for VMware moving forward. Panic over.

Please don’t be foolish. There is no way cuts won’t happen and you really shouldn’t say that and confuse people. The CEO clearly stated he will be cutting, like every acquisition before us. It is downright reckless to make vulnerable (and gullible) people to think differently.

BroadCon guy is exactly what he says he is, a con. Broadcom SG houses Symantec and CA, the two companies BroadScam guy keeps referring to as the blueprint for layoffs. Anyone that really worked for Broadcom would know this.

"it [BCSG] never represented a strategy or platform view of capabilities being brought to market." And Hock just kept it going? So I guess Hock isn't 100% about cutting everything that is non revenue generating according to this other incorrect statement from you. Wondering: do you make up your lies as you go or do you just poorly plan them?

Why do you think Krause left? Once he realized about the big layoffs and having to deal with which groups to keep and which to layoff, he didn't want anything to do with it. He made the deal, got the bonus, and left. Just like what you should be doing. Find another job before all companies start a hiring freeze. Everyone should be looking and interviewing externally.

As said before, Broadcom executives don’t have any opinions that are not aligned to whatever Hock is thinking. The WFH is driven directly by Hock. I’m sure Tom and others have their own respective points of view, but lord knows they would never go against Daddy. I realize this may sound foolish even writing, but on some level, people respect Hock because he is so fixed in his ways and doesn’t devalue from his plans. I often wish some of our executives operated with such conviction. If they did, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

This is funny, indeed: -“Citrix and Tibco are pioneers in their respective markets, and I am honored to take the helm of a global enterprise software leader that will continue to accelerate digital transformations and the future of hybrid work,” said Krause in a statement. -
TK is now honored by promoting "hybrid work" as a cool thing. This is the same guy that was planning to send all VMware employees back to the office and kick out all remote workers. I hope he sells his new "hybrid work" philosophy to Octane before taking off, using Citrix products, of course.

What. In. The. Actual. He-l. This sounds like they don't actually know what they're doing over there.

@ysx+1hGCRGEz - actually I think you are reading the statement correctly. Hock wants to run VMW as lean as possible and why he would prefer to get the revenue and take ZERO people, even he knows that won’t work.

@TikTokTan is also correct the the plan really hasn’t changed.

Always best to listen to exactly what is being said and not said.

If I don’t pick up on what’s not being said but implied then I’m not “reading between the lines” when I do try to read between the lines it’s “you are reading too much into this nonsense”

So it’s not actually different like I mentioned then. Also Broadcom software group is devops and security, where Symantec resides correct?

You are reading too much into this nonsense. BroadCon guy here.

BSg (what does BS stand for...lmfao) is nothing but an overhead org shell for some common admin services, and sales. it never represented a strategy or platform view of capabilities being brought to market.

the plam was always to rebrand as vmware, in hopes of our customers forgetting the nightmare of BroadCon.

rest assured, we'll continue our scorched earth plans for you. we promise to deliver on that objectives

That is confusing.

I the new organization it sounds like the Broadcom Software Group employees are now taking the NAME "VMWare", but, by omission, it sounds like there might not be a role for the VMWare employees.
