Thread regarding Sears layoffs

13 Kmarts left now

There are 13 Kmarts left now, with Grass Valley being confirmed. Still don't Know why MT isn't closing, but here we are. There are now zero pharmacies left on the U.S. mainland. Here are those 13, non-closing stores:

We are now at 13 Kmarts total, 7 of which are in the US. I have changed my map to reflect this as well:

FLORIDA

  1. KEY WEST
  2. MIAMI

MONTANA

  1. HAMILTON

NEW JERSEY

  1. AVENEL
  2. WESTWOOD

NEW YORK

  1. BRIDGEHAMPTON
  2. BRONX

TERRITORIES:

GUAM

  1. TAMUNING, GU -P

PUERTO RICO

  1. HATO REY -P

USVI

  1. ST. CROIX -P
  2. ST. CROIX
  3. ST. THOMAS -P
  4. ST. THOMAS

Statistics: Kmart absent in 46 states. Now we have 1 state, MT, with only 1. There are 7 Kmarts in United "States", total. Of those in the US, zero, have a pharmacy. There are 4 pharmacies in the territories, marked with letter "P".
Additionally, Puerto Rico has 1 Kmart, USVI has 4, Guam has 1, so there are 6 total stores outside of the US. Total of 13 total Kmarts left as of now that are not closed or closing.

States with more than 1 Kmart:

FL: 2
NJ: 2
NY: 2

You obviously failed at geography when you were in school. Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam are all part of the United States. So, all 13 Kmarts are located in the United States would actually be a correct statement (not what you said). So, I suggest you apologize to the US citizens living in these fine territories.

Oh totally agree on Key West. At least as far as the mainland U.S., that will likely be the last to close, for they reasons you mentioned.
And who was the genius who decided to put two Kmarts, two miles apart, on USVI anyway LOL?
But seriously, the map is looking neater and cleaner every Day. Just gotta get rid of that Hamilton, randomly sticking out there like a sore thumb LOL!

Kmart has Key West (and the rest of the Keys) all to itself, at least until someone else replaces the closed Kmarts in Marathon and Key Largo, or the closed Sears in Key West.

@ysa+1dmbzht6 There is also a Walmart slightly west of that Target in Miami. That Miami Kmart definitely doesn't need to stick around since both Target and Walmart are in the neighborhood too

@ysa+1dmbzht6 Totally agree! Another "problem" area is NY/NJ. While it might look like a lot (and I certainly appreciate all the lard in that area they they trimmed), they still have 2 Full line Sears and 4 Kmarts within those 2 states. Jersey City and Newburgh need to close A.S.A.P.. And just end the silly NJ Kmarts already. They can leave Bronx, Bridgehampton for now, because Bronx is, I hate to admit, in the largest city in the country, so I guess we can let them stick around a bit. And Bridgehampton has this weird niche market out on the eastern end of Long Island. So we'll let those 2 hang around (FOR A BIT ONLY), but everything else has to go immediately. As in, don't wait, do not pass go, do not collect $200. RIGHT NOW.

@oee+1dmbzht6 You're preaching to the choir, buddy! I totally agree! There should never be a Kmart within 10 miles of another Kmart. They should bop out at least 1 Kmart each, on St. Croix & St. Thomas. I'm glad they eliminated the loose ends on PR, except for Hato Rey. But that ridiculously located store, literally next door to a Sears needs to be eliminated. Also, why do they have like 7 Hometowns on PR? One or 2 should be plenty. They need to start trimming the fat.
There are some other anomalies which aren't too bad, but still, Concord and Stockton CA Sears, are 50 miles apart. Might as well trim out 1 of those.
Then you have Burbank and Whittier that are about 25 miles apart. Definitely bang out 1 of those 2 also. Basically a Kmart or Sears should never be within 30 miles of another Sears, or Kmart, or any Target or Wally.

They should also get rid of one of the Kmarts on St. Croix. Those are also less than 10 miles apart.

These are the "problem" stores, that need to close YESTERDAY, and I explain why. No, these are NOT confirmed, but these need to be closed A.S.A.P.:

  1. Montana Kmart (no explanation needed).
  2. Miami Kmart (walkable to Target).
  3. Hato Rey Kmart (not only walkable, but literally in the same parking lot as full-line Sears).
  4. At least one of the 2 Kmarts on St. Thomas (no need for 2 Kmarts that are only 2 miles apart. That was a very stup!d idea, in the first place).

None of these are confirmed, but they should all be. No need to ever have only 1 Kmart in a state (like Montana), or a Kmart that is within 5 miles of another Kmart (St. Thomas), within 5 miles of a Target (Miami), or a literally next door to a Sears (Hato Rey). Close those A.S.A.P., then we'll be getting somewhere. You have your assignment, Edward. Now get on it. Shut these down, then I'll give you the next steps for your removal strategy after that.
