Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

What is the bare minimum of people we need to function??

How low can we go? I can’t imagine the workplace getting much smaller than it already is???

If you can’t imagine a leaner Oxy, you lack imagination. When I joined Oxy in 2017, it was immediately obvious that it was more bloated than my prior, larger company. There were three more layers of management between me and VH. Decisions required more approvals. IT was about half as competent.

@yrn+14WUiQ38 this was sent out to more than just support groups. It was sent to folks here in the GOM and Africa even though we are not eligible to make an offer.

@ncm+14WUiQ38 For real?

That department has the lowest productivity per employee that I have ever seen. And I mean ever. You'd get better results at the DMV.

It may be low compared to the past, but its still grossly overstaffed for the actual work being done. If Reed Hastings was running Oxy IT, headcount would probably be 25% of what it is today because the plodding mundane make-work would be gone.

From what I have heard is that around 2000-3500 people were sent this email. These people are all considered support staff or part of the SG&A cost. I am assuming they want to get at least 50% of those. Worst case 30%
