Relo considerations

To anyone considering the relo…do your due diligence on the Houston area. This is NOT a city I would choose to relocate my family to. Ick

My sister moved out of Houston 15 years ago to Katy, she said the City was becoming dangerous back then and the School Districts were much better in the suburbs. FWIW, she lived in Pittsburgh before Houston and said she would move back to Pittsburgh in a second if she could.

@2zgi+1poHuzIf Nope that’s wrong too. Even if you’re looking at metropolitan population, Pittsburgh steadily declined from 1950 to present. The only year there was an increase was 1960 and 2020 and those came from counties being added to the metro area. The most recent being Lawrence county in 2020. The change in city limits is only part of the decline. The net growth is in the negatives. The Pittsburgh population has seen consistent net losses from 1950 going forward.

Here’s a detailed database of census data

Again, I have no dog in this fight. I think Pittsburgh is a great place. Both cities have their pros and cons. I’m just saying that the people on here (which isn’t everyone) shading Houston for whatever reason are ignoring their own cities problems. Whether it’s Houston to Pittsburgh or the other way around,

Everyone should agree that what CCI is doing to the PA office is very bad. But as the other poster mentioned, the infighting isn’t helping and if anything is hurting the case.

That's a stretch. Obviously we don't want to move to Houston but you'd be a fool to put stock in PA's government leadership.

All true. Also, the electric stays on, Senators don't flee to Cancun when their constituents are in peril and the governor would never ignore mass shootings in churches and elementary schools.

Actually the Pittsburgh metro area has not changed. The city proper downsized its foot print putting more population in the suburbs. Another group of people moved to the suburbs on their own. Another larger group of people have moved in to the suburbs from elsewhere. Pittsburgh is booming in terms of tech, healthcare, education, research and services.

High on most lists for economic opportunity, education, healthcare, lifestyle, food and the arts. A most liveable city.

The mills shut down 40 years ago. Google just a wee bit deeper.

This infighting just means that ‘the powers that be’ won… do better people and show some respect for anyone who has to make a major life decision.

Pittsburgh peak population in 1950: 676k. Pittsbugh in 2022: 302k. More than half of the population has left. What does that tell you? Pittsburgh is generally ay synonymous with urban decline.

Don’t get me wrong, I doubt I’d move to neither Houston nor Pittsburgh voluntarily. Houston has its set of problems but it’s hilarious seeing those here masking Pittsburgh’s set of problems.

The way CCI is treating its Pittsburgh employees is inhumane. Throwing shade at the Houston employees that have nothing to do with this move (outside of the c-suite) isn’t helping the case at all

The main problem with Crown Castle is where it’s located in Houston. It’s not in a bad area or anything but it’s not in an area families like relocating to. Katy, Sugar Land, the Woodlands or even energy corridor would’ve been great options.

Houston is 44% Hispanic and 22% black. The 7th most diverse city in the US.

Canonsburg is 91% white. The Pittsburg metro area as a whole is 85% white and as recently as 2020 was ranked the 6th least diverse big city in the country.

Texas is the 2nd most diverse state and Pennsylvania is 33rd.
I think you may be confused.

Can’t we all just get along, lollollollolollol

Only two things in Texas, steers and queers. Well let me let you in on a secret, Texas ain’t down with diversity so just better to assume it’s a state for of steers cause that’s how Texans like it. Last time I was in Texas I had the privilege of seeing a billboard on the edge of Buford Tx, that read “don’t let the sun set on your black a-s in Buford, Tx.” Yeah, keep my elitist a-s out of that a-s backwards state. Yee-Haw Y’all!

@yoo+1poHuzIf If by elitist you mean “not a useless dr-g-addicted criminal” then yes, we are elitist. Happy to leave and watch the company crash in the hands of people like you.
