Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Why is Boeing getting $60 billion??

This is just disgusting. I supported the vast majority of Trump's decisions over the last 4 years, but this makes no sense to me. The Senate just grilled Muilenberg not even 6 months ago and he had no defense. He's just chasing paper. Not even a little regard for safety. The DOT just ruled against Boeing and the FAA for gross negligence. Boeing was responsible for the deaths of 346 and now they are getting $60 billion. WTF kind of reality do we live in?? Yeah let's pay the people who make faulty planes big money. Boeing's just going to take that money, continue to make their death traps (aka the MAX) and lose all of it again when another one crashes. Unbelievable

You supported most of Trump's decisions. Why are so many Trumpanzees working in union jobs? Republicans hate unions. Dunning-Kruger look it up.

That's not a bad idea either. Wipe out the shareholders, split the company up somewhat, and start fresh.

Going through bankruptcy is the best course of action. Boeing dumps all debt - sorry shareholders. No $60B in loans for Boeing. Profitable portions of Boeing such as helicopters and missiles can be sold off to generate the cash they need for commercial airlines.

I agree its pretty absurd for Boeing to get bailout money considering everything that's gone down in the past year but you also need to consider the alternative. If Boeing were to fold, it would wreck the entire US economy. Millions of people through the supply chain would lose their jobs. The price of flights would go through the roof as the supply of planes dwindled over time. Its a c-appy situation to be in but the cost of letting Boeing go under is far, far higher than $60 billion. Any money they get should come a ton of strings attached to limit executive bonuses, no stock buybacks, etc.

Boeing’s Unconscionable $60 Billion Ask.
That’s Our Boeing

  • UNCONSCIONABLE BOEING FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO SEE

The bail-out is needed to keep the whole rotten distorted
Unregulated Capitalism System afloat
This is deregulated corporate America at its worst. No Rules, No Consequences

Looking at Boeing’s report card

Boeing has spent $45 billion on stock buybacks since 2009,
all while increasing debt

The company designed a faulty aircraft that has really caused the bulk
of problems that the company has right now.

As Boeing’s current CEO says about the situation that the previous CEO
got the company into — “I’ll never be able to judge what motivated Dennis,
whether it was a stock price that was going to continue to go up and up, or
whether it was just beating the other guy to the next rate increase. If anybody
ran over the rainbow for the pot of gold on stock, it would have been him.”

While all of this is going on, the company has created big executive bonuses
around getting the 737 MAX back in the sky, and the new CEO admitted he
wasn’t willing to give up his salary, because he probably wouldn’t have taken
the job

On top of that, Airbus and Boeing have been at war for over 15 years
over government subsidies for aircraft manufacturers

My Take:
Not satisfied with robbing the bank, Boeing burned the bank down
Boeing, Murder & Larceny Inc.

Ok dip shat...I agree that SOME of the money is not deserved, but let's start with your first fallacy.

Boeing is not getting $60M. That is the total package for ALL of aerospace, including suppliers and airlines.

Second, this is not a complete handout (although its close). These are low interest guarentee loans.

Third, this drop is two fold. The first issue is the MAX. Those were decisions made inside and fully under the company's control. They don't deserve a dime for that. The COVID-19 virus is something that is out of their control, government help is something that is legitimate for something like a pandemic.

When you oversimplify you lose both the extent of what they did wrong as well as the plight they are in for no fault of their own.

There should be strings attached to the money, no doubt.

I thought Boeing and Airbus were not entitled to government backed subsidies. This is why Boeing had to give back the Washington state tax break.
