Thread regarding Texas Instruments Inc. layoffs

Was this really necessary?

There's no hiring freeze. Shouldn't that be step one? We could stop hiring and let attrition do what it does best and reduce the headcount like that. But I guess they want it done quickly and they don't care how many good employees we lose in the process. Stupid is as stupid does.

@a3 This eulogization of Rich needs to stop. He behaved exactly like the current leadership and TI under him was always political and non-transparent. Ask Unitrode employees who were promised the Unitrode fab would not be shut. TI has been using the same playbook since the 1990s.

@yk I'm sure you do anonymous user who talks a lot like the person he's agreeing with. Schizophrenia meds are actually super effective and would probably help you.

@wv I agree with w1. You might not see because you had Trump’s clot shot. TI was part of his 5D tariff chess, and they wanted you unemployed. He got help from the small hats, Russians and North Koreans. May the Universe help us all, because the gubmint can’t. At least, until they get a hold of what remains of our sweet, sweet cheddar. That, you can take to the bank.

Better learn some space karate, quick.

@w1 You should consider taking your shtick to some place like FB or somewhere else where they're stupid enough to listen, you're falling on deaf ears and if you aren't trolling, then it's pretty obvious why you aren't able to maintain gainful employment and I urge you to consider seeking psychiatric help.

It’s all about money. I’m sure a lot of people had RSU that were about to vest. They don’t have to pay it once everyone’s terminated!

I think it was so unnecessary. Job racks are still open… we are still expecting NCGs to come in.. so seriously why would they do this?! I have so many questions and TI has yet to give us answers..

Absolutely not necessary. Templeton would’ve held on, knowing we would be better positioned for the next big wave and demand. We’ve had tougher times. We are also really lean across the board in all areas. Makes zero sense to make these cuts now. CEO and SVP made a horrible decision in the name of a higher short term stock price. Very sad.

closing down the sites was certainly not necessary, it’s a permanent move to being a smaller company

No, it was not - the compy is still making tons of money, the organisation has been super lean in most places already and the current market is not reflecting a normal level of business but will recover at some point - then everyone will chase deliveries again...

However it's symptomatic of the current short term thinking. It certainly felt different under Rich even though there were also tough times back then. Trust in current leadership is close to zero...
