Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

How much was your pay CUT???

5% on average. Think about it everytime you pay a bill. Does it make you feel better that you are doing your part not to contribute to inflation by taking a pay cut?

HOW MUCH WAS GRETCHEN'S PAY CUT? IS SHE HAVING TROUBLE MAKING ENDS MEET, LIKE ME?

It is NOT a paycut in nominal dollars but it VERY MUCH IS a paycut in REAL dollars.

There’s only one rule of engagement in working relationships, you step on the guy next to you to get ahead while he goes down.

Let's not forget that 0.0 business performance factor last year. That has a 3 year impact for any benefits based on average final compensation. Or if you're HR, it gives Shell some nice savings on retiree benefits.

Someone needs to get less so I get more. You savvy yet? So please work harder and faster so I get a bigger bonus. Thank you.

@yjz like most who post here, I don't work there.
I just get tired of seeing entitled people, who could be out on their rears looking for a job, whining about getting a smaller raise than they think they just automagically deserve.
If you want better pay, it's just like your step up from your first minimum wage gig... go after it.

I'll give them the level of effort this pay deserves. None until I find a new job.

so your point is that it's not a pay cut because a lot of other companies are cutting pay too? Did you author GW's email? Same bad reasoning! "Exactly in line with inflation?" "EXACTLY IN LINE WITH INFLATION?"
So what if a company hires staff gives 0% raises to staff for 10 years? At what point are they getting paid less?
"Giving money away?" are you the only peroson who's work load hasn't doubled after MisShape?

I'm taking home less in real dollars, so yes, it's a paycut. In the past, we have been condescendigly lectured on how our bonus is not pay we should count on for living, budget based on salary. At the same time they are buying back shares to boost their equity comp.
Just don't think you're fooling anyone.

The guy below does not have a business degree. Is that you, HR?

You did not get a pay cut. No company gives raises exactly in line with inflation and cost of living increases. Start your own company, and give all your money away.
