@2wqt+1bz9PJ7u Nice rant, but its never going to happen. First of all, the most useless people in the 301, that produce absolutely nothing at all, are at the hall. Its simple self preservation for them to keep the senior most people to save there own skin. That's the way its always been, and that's the way it will always stay. Nobody likes to go by seniority until they're at the top.
You used to be able to negotiate a better deal if you had special hardships etc. They are now saying that everyone gets the same deal.
@yjn+1bz9PJ7u: What is the "New Policy" and how is it different around layoffs?
Nothing believable that I have heard in Schenectady. Personally, I think that GE has been preparing itself for a while now to be ready for a big layoff. Not one where they just layoff a large number of the most recent hires but one where they layoff the least useful and lowest producing workers. It would make sense to keep those who product the most quantity with the highest quality. To keep those who don't just because they have been here for a long time, makes no economical sense whatsoever. With everything that has been going on for a long time now, it wouldn't surprise me if GE has been working to positioning itself where they tell the union we want to lay these people off because of x, y , and z. The union says no because their are people who are more junior that should be let go first. GE says no, those are good workers who we need to keep. The union still says no, I guess you just won't lay anybody off then. GE just comes back and say no we won't, we'll just have to shut it all down because we can no longer continue like this with everyone. Either we lose the dead weight or we lose it all. The union buckles under pressure and the dead weight gets laid off. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't. Maybe it gets us out of the ho-e and maybe it doesn't. Only time will tell. None of this is based on rumors, just what makes logical sense to me. When you have a team, you need everybody to be a team player when it really matters and right now I really think it does. We don't need bench warmers who feel entitled to sit it out because they have been on the team for so long, but still want the championship so they can have the glory.
I am looking to begin working for GE appliances soon. Is this something I should do or should I keep looking?
Sweat the rats out! Everyone in 273 is a hot sweaty rat!!!!!!! Last one outs a rotten egg! 🤡
Seems Schenectady is hiring and handing out upgrades.
Well given that HR rolled out a new policy around layoffs, you know there are more right around the corner. It's not like something they do without having a need for it afterall.
Anything beyond rumors?
