Do just enough to get by. Go above and beyond, and they’ll just milk you dry while pretending it’s "opportunity." Play the game right: put in your hours, collect your check, and save your energy for something that actually matters. Marathon Petroleum doesn't reward loyalty here, so why give them extra?

@yg someone did drop dead on the way to work a couple years back, they were removed from the system not 2 hours later. You do not matter.
This company could give a rats a-s if you dropped dead. They’ll be pinging you while you’re on your deathbed. They’re bringing in all these contractors to soon take a fte job in a few months.

This is the most factual post here, maybe the most factual post in all of the internet. I’ve seen it. I’ve seen the guy who was out sick twice a week get the big raises every year while people busting their as--s get nothing. The only reward for doing great work at MPC is doing more work, most of the time picking up slack for dead weight elsewhere in your department.
