Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Employee Stock Purchase

I did the stock purchase for 1.5 years. Stopped in December. Not a lot in it. Sell or hold? Will we even ever hit 40 a share???

Hold...at least until June. That is when the ex. dividends are being paid out. Get your little extra from the dividend and hit the road!

@1qrm - historical Dow returns aren’t relevant here. This stock is the same price it was 23 years ago - it’s honestly embarrassing

This guy who apparently no longer works Truist (there is no 15% discount) spends time commenting on a forum calling other people bitter id--ts?!

LOL, bunch of bitter id--ts.

DawnTay - if you think this forum is just about layoffs, you aren’t paying attention.

LOL, bunch of bitter id--ts. Buying at a 15% discount and history shows DOW has the market has only gone up despite the cycles along the way. It’s pretty much a guarantee of a 15% return over a long span of time. Go set up your BBQs in your Re----k community bank parking lots and pound your chest about how good you are at relationship banking.

It’s a great idea to ask people in a layoff forum to hlod or not TFC stock. You’re a smart one.

I would ask people on here, too for advice.

You should sell the ESPP shares immediately and pocket the discount. The question of actually investing in SunTFC is separate. If it is worth investing in, it is worthy buying retail shares.

Yeah I feel you. I usually just immediately sell TFC and buy something else as soon as the ISPP goes through lol. But I agree it might go up short term (finally) because of all the buybacks. Because you can buyback a lot with even a fraction of $10B. Just depends on how they deploy it. Who knows

I figured as much that they’d blow through the cash. I’ll hold… for now… maybe.

Typically, a company’s stock price will increase when the company buys back company stock. Bill and crew stated multiple times that after closing the insurance sale, they would start buying back Truist stock. So, I’d bet that when they start buying back a lot of stock, the price will increase and once they blow through the $10B with nothing to show for it, the stock price will go back down. Lots of short term gains with little thought to the long term. Kinda makes one wonder what the end game is.
