Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

From angst to apathy to fear

Summary: We were all so upset about RTO that we were going to quit but few quit and now we are sad and afraid because the company we hate might cut us.

You did exactly what they wanted.

Mary's plan worked.

i was one of the ones that lives 50+ miles away and no matter it's their policy, they would not allow me to be classified as "remote" so i left the company. missed out on the severance but the 3-4 hours of sitting in traffic each day was life-depleting.

If you knew how to write English, you wouldn't be copy/pasting your trolls.
Very transparent Shen Yang. Your CCP handlers will be disappointed in you!

"Unions can't prevent corporate mismanagement."

The overwhelming theme among the union rank and file is the idea that, "I'm union. I can't be fired. If you do something I don't like or ask me to do something I don't want to do, I will file a grievance."
Even though these people are displaced by the thousands as their assembly jobs are moved to Mexico and China, this idea persists. Kind of ign0rant, wouldn't you say?

Beyond that, I see cars in my neighborhood with bumper stickers and license frames that say, "Proudly Made in America". I don't know how people can believe that, let alone think they are doing something noble by pushing in harness clips or pressing red buttons. They aren't making ANYTHING. The non-union suppliers are. Simply putting non-union supplier parts together like legos isn't a skill, as non-skilled labor in South Korea, Mexico and China prove with every "quality" GM car they assemble.

Sorry Jim, that Trailblazer you are driving was assembled in Incheon, South Korea.
So is the:
*Buick Encore GX
*Buick Envista
*Chevrolet Trax
Made with non-union pride in a factory with almost no safety issues or call-ins.

PS With the last "war" established by UAW leadership, expect more plant closings. "Winning with integrity" takes on a different meaning.

Unions can't prevent corporate mismanagement.

They're just about treating employees fairly.

Right, because those union dues paid in every month sure did prevent layoffs from the Stellantis plants.
