Just heard in a VP meeting this morning that RTO is in place for everybody - I’m in IT.
Only thing stated was that everybody is expected to be on site 5 times a week 9 to 5, but no futher information was provided.

"There are tens of thousands people who are remote and can't or won't go to an office, do you honestly think dell is going to fire 30000 people"
Yes
This is a “read the room” situation. In the sales org, Dell is pushing 5 days a week in office. If you’re remote, I hope you are looking hard for a different opportunity. I am looking to get out asap. Maybe they’ll do a package, but more likely I’ll get managed out if I stay because it’s cheaper. Sad because I really liked this job.
I see we’re in the denial stage.
Start gradually moving a little closer to acceptance.
Or 2025 will start off rough….
I know a guy who's on 5 days a week now. He starts at 9am sharp, then at 5pm he closes his laptop, no matter if he's on a call or not, locks his laptop in a locker and leaves. He no longer has work email on his phone and is not taking any calls outside of working hours. His management is really pi66d, but can't do anything about it. He's a real role model I think.
if 9-5 was mentioned, ppl are taking it too literally, and would have been used colloquially to mean full time
The denial in here is incredible. Look at the temperature in the room.
Dell is circling the drain. Management is garbage. They have no new ideas/innovation.
You think 5-days in office is off the table?? Really?
@ydc+1vPdzO0M - That's true. They removed full entire team from digital lifecare project in india in september. office politics by so called director(MK), architect(EN) and senior product leader (AS)- everyone was playing their games, whole team is laid off. We are still struggling to find a job. The senior product leader knows sh-t and one would wonder how he even has a job. Karma will hit these guys badly.
"Heard in a VP meeting this morning" ...so you're a VP and you don't actually know what the policy is and will be? You trolls need to move on.
This is rubbish. There are no changes to hybrid and remote except for sales
There's a lot of conflicting information out there right now, which means things aren't finalized yet. I'll believe it's real and follow it once the updated corporate policy is officially released. Until then, I'm not going to stress over things I can't control. We've got a business to run.
they will reconfigure work areas to smaller spaces for starters. no more individual cubes at all.
it will have to take on an open bench seating/working system.
let's go back to assigned seating then.
Oh, I have no doubt they don't care about our work environment...I'm saying it's literally not possible to fit everyone who still works here into the space they currently have. Unless they plan on having us sit on the floor like you're in a crowded airport terminal fighting for the last power outlet.
"they plan on re-opening a bunch of offices, I don't know how they'd"
haa. it is cute you actually think they care about employees working environment
Unless they plan on re-opening a bunch of offices, I don't know how they'd implement everyone back 5 days a week even if another 20k people left the company. Dell's real estate is pretty small at this point. Still a ton of employees stranded in major metros where they closed the local offices.
Also this 9-5 business is suspect. Many people work global roles or with people across many timezones and continents. Having a structured 9-5 might work for a few teams who live close to one another, but is a non-starter for many of us.
The downfall of Dell will be the arogance of senior leader.
Honestly when they did it to sales, I think the writing was on the wall then, that it would be implemented into the rest of the company
@ncg+1vPdzO0M well guess what, they did for our team.
"Dell does not want it's best people to leave, they aren't stupid."
Best people do not stay at Dell. If you are good, way better opp and money elsewhere. That is not even debatable.
but that is beside the point. dells mantra is to operate as a soulless factory mind hive. no free thinkers. employees are treated like furniture.
They don't do VSP cause they are trying to save money with a slow bleed. Layoff, pause, wait for people to leave/quit. rinse and repeat.
@ncg+1vPdzO0M They do not care, at all. I’ve seen them nuke our best people in the last 6-12 months, mostly due to politics.
Dell does not want it's best people to leave, they aren't stupid. Many many of the best people are remote, they are not planning on firing these people
@aal+1vPdzO0M but thats exactly what they do want. They want 10k to just quit, another 10k to begrudgingly move anyway, and another 10k to not comply that they can nuke in a quarter or 2 for cause.
'are you still in denial at this point? seriously do you not read the temp in the room'
What are you talking about, sales are back 5 days a week. No one else is and there is nothing changing in this regard
There are tens of thousands people who are remote and can't or won't go to an office, do you honestly think dell is going to fire 30000 people
"rubbish. There has been no communication"
are you still in denial at this point? seriously do you not read the temp in the room
rubbish. There has been no communication so saying this is in place isnt true.
9 to 5? BS. Plenty of shifts in support are 7:00 - 15:30. Also plenty of shift workers doing 12hr shifts who will not be in 5 days a week.
Any idea when? Are they going to offer a VSP?
what about snow days
hahah. what a shyt show.
more mentions of AI are needed too
that will increase revenues for sure
Cool. Can't wait for an announcement. Till then no point in stressing 🤡
