Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

This is nerve wracking

There are already lots of rumors about layoffs, but the company has decided to keep us in suspense until the end.
What do they want to achieve?
If the goal is for employees to become maximally productive out of fear of losing their jobs, I think Q is going about it the wrong way...

Unlike previous times, i think management is doing a complete study to figure out headcount needs. Which tells me that a big one is coming. However i wish that management would also kick out the folks who overstaffed just for the fear of missing out.

If you in California, companies have to submit how many people are being laid off to the state. Google WARN act. Basically, they have to give you 60 day notice before they can lay you off. The 60 days notice is separate from any severance.

@ycu you must be very naive. Have you not seen how badly other tech giants did the layoffs? If you are worried about your job, use the extra time to apply elsewhere. Layoffs going to be the norm the next few months across the industry if you have been paying attention to the macro economic situation

You must be a new employee. Q always has massive layoffs. Layoffs are part of Q’s business cycle. First off Q can careless about you - you are a number that can be easily replaced, the fact that you don’t understand this is disturbing. You work at a commodity producing company not a leading edge technology company. TSMC employees are more valuable than you

Employees who will be affected already have signs from their managers and have started looking elsewhere before the market is flooded. Now it is a matter of getting the severance and starting the new job. However, don’t expect the same pay or title as you have now.
