Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

The lost ship

HyVee is a lost ship at sea these days. It’s the blame game now. Hyvee leadership has failed for 10 years now. They blame the stores for failed business ideas and policy when it was VP and CEO that forced these ideas on stores. Remember when HyVee had autonomy? Now they run it from the top and that has failed. HyVee used to be the grocery store chain to work for but these days it’s just another sub par company in the retail sector.

@ab Ditto. It's a tough industry for tough people.

@y2 You're describing roughly 100 percent of companies in America, those that are successful and those that are not so much.

@ab under paid is right, over 20 years and still haven't broke 20. Per hour. Without manager in the title your not much except a loyal worker.

HyVee will spend money on trying to convince you that HyVee is the greatest place to work in the world. They will hire a firm and do marketing to make you think it’s the best company to work for. They have no problem wasting that money. Let’s face it. HyVee has subpar benefits. Their 401k match is a joke . Took me 10 years to get 40k in my 401k account at HyVee. The last two company I worked for would make me 200 percent up to 10 percent. Way better benefit. In two years I hit 40k already. If you really want to be the number one company to work for then show the employees. Talk is cheap.

@ag it would’ve been cool if Hy-Vee would’ve had a concept of a daycare associated with their stores offering Hy-Vee employees discounts on childcare. With some of these brand new stores they could’ve had an add-on or an addition separate from the store. But instead, we have failed nail salons, blowout salons, Orangetheory,Wahlburgers. Hy-Vee could’ve been the first grocery store chain to concept that idea, but let’s face it the way they treat employees. They would probably treat children worse.

That’s not true. Look at all that money that tariffs are making the U.S. without a price increase.

@ag can you imagine how expensive groceries would be if they did that? The cost always gets passed onto the customer. Minimum wage goes up = more expensive everything.

@ab You could go work somewhere else and see if it's better there.

What are some benefits you would like to see at HyVee? What benefits would you like to see increase at HyVee? How cool would it be if HyVee had free daycare for employees. If they want to be the number one company to work for they need to offer the number one benefits and pay.

I 💯 agree, All these meetings lately trying to pump us up is ridiculous. Hy-Vee needs to figure out that if they take care of their employees and make us number 1, everything will fall in place for the company. We are under paid, our benefits are subpar, and they need to start paying weekend differentials, and offer holiday pay, and I don't mean am extra dollar an hour. I get tired of hearing you all signed up for this...

More like ship taking water on at sea and lost. HyVee leadership can’t move out of its own way
