Thread regarding Alphabet Inc. (Google) layoffs

Anyone else concerned that this new RTO mandate ...

is a precursor to hoping for some volunteer attrition to cut down on total severance packages in lieu of a pending layoff round?

Management wants the devs to RTO. They don't know for a fact whether attrition (especially in this environment) can even happen. The right way is the data driven approach to enforce RTO and observe the effect. If it does increase attrition rates, they'd probably start being more lenient.

people that will be laidoff or still pending to be layoff be prepared. The market is full of unemployed people and there are thousands of applications on the first couple hours a new job post is published. It will not easily to get a new job. I never saw the market so bad like it is now.
